Learn the moves. Practice. And play. The biship moves kattycorner. The castle moves forward. The king and queen move in a box shape around them. Pawns move forward also. The Knight moves in a CAPITAL L shape. But I do not know how to do Castling yet. When I do I will spread the news. If any questions you have about anything come to me and message me. I love to play and hope to become a pro.. please play me or challenge me to a game of chess! Well as I said if I learn to do castling I will tell you and if any questions come near your head ask me, mebowland or Morgan,. Thank-you for your time!

castling is one of the best defensive moves you can use in the game here are the rules for castling:

castling is the only situation where you can move two of your pieces at the same time

your king and one of your rooks

It is also the only time your king is allowed to move 2 squares instead of the standard

one square

You may only castle if you have never moved your king or the rook that you wish to

castle with

to castle you move your king 2 squares towards the rook you wish to castle with

and your rook moves to the other side of your king (see analysis board) White castled to the king side and black castled to the queen side. You may not castle if you are in check and you may not castle through check and you may not castle into check. You may also not castle if there are pieces between your king and the rook you wish to castle with. it is a good idea to castle early and it is generally acctepted that castling to your king side is better than castling to your queen side, but which side you castle to or even if you want to castle is something you will learn with more experience.

I hope this helped you!!!

I'm sure there'll be more than just a few here prepared to help mebowland settle into the site, help her with her game, and play unrated games..

Its really encouraging to see more younger people wanting to learn and go further with chess..

Do you know about en passant?  :)  It is a french term meaning 'on passing'.  :)

Narz

Good for you for getting started so young.  Just practice alot & you'll improve rapidly.  If you have a question about the site, send a message to Erik.  Keep up the good work. Smile

Narz

oh yeah, en passant is important to know, I didn't even know that was a rule until I started playing in college.
