How to enjoy chess after giving up on improving?

Sort:

I probably won't get much better anymore.
I make the mistake of blocking the path of my bishop, queen, and rook, or failing to protect the pieces I should protect.

I use my diamond membership privileges to actively analyze matches, but it doesn't seem to help at all.

Is there an upper limit for each person's progress?
In my case, the current stage may be the upper limit.
Is there anyone who can never improve from the beginner level?

If I can't climb up from 500ELO, I will gracefully give up on improving.
But I still like chess, so I keep doing it.
I will make an effort to find the fun of the game for points other than improvement.

When do you give up on improving?
And then how do you enjoy playing chess?

SacrificeTheHorse

As mentioned in your previous threads you are moving almost instantly and making gross blunders.

7.bxc3 why not capture the Bishop?

9.gxf3 why not capture the Knight?

It's impossible to improve if you don't look at the board...

Perhaps you would find more enjoyment in playing 1 minute bullet games where you at least have the adreneline rush of potentially winning on time? Opponents will also be making gross blunders as they are forced to move without thinking so you have better chances to win.

I am drunk now.
But I just won the game.
Please tell me the reason for winning.

More blunders by your opponent than by you. As most games are decided...

I again refer to previous thread of yours where I told you something like 'experienced players know Qe7 is not a good way to develop the queen'...but here you do it again. 6.Nd5 you are suffering but the opponent didn't do it.

Thus I conclude that you are not hearing the advice, continue to play without thinking, play drunk and lose etc etc. Probably wasting energy attempting to help you.

try to make your opponent make blunders by baiting pieces, just read art of war and you'll improve. happy.png

I don't understand why I shouldn't point to Qe7.
This is to protect the f7 pawn.

I play properly and with purpose.

Are you really taking benefits if your diamond membership? And if you are analysing your games, are you really seeing what you did wrong? Are you doing puzzles? Have you looked at your insights? Which is the option only available to diamond membership?

Learn some openings and the pros and cons of each, my favorite opening is queen's pawn opening. you can get a piece advantage if you play your opponent correctly.

after opening with queens pawn I like to protect my pawn with knight b6 leading my other knight at f6 and so on.

Many chess masters say:
"Beginners don't need to learn too much about openings. Point to e4 or d4"
I am just following it closely.

Have you used insights? It tells you how many forks or how many pieces you could have taken, it tells you your weak spots, the you can know what you’re are doing wrong and then you will have something you can try and improve on. Also, bullet and blitz won’t make you improve, play longer games. Also I recommend a twitch channel which gives free coaching, here it is, https://www.twitch.tv/chessdoctors

I saw the insight, but I honestly don't understand the content.
But if you can win the game while drunk,
Chess is not a game of thought.
It's just a game of luck!
I just noticed it!

You are defending f7 before it needs to be defended. Qe7 is unwise because of a few things:

It is difficult now to develop your Bf8 which you have blocked with your queen.

The queen is vulnerable to being attacked on e7 by Nd5. If you prevent this eg. by playing c6 it is another move spent without developing a piece.

Basically it is a slow and cumbersome way of developing and it's not necessary to commit your queen to this square. Against a better player you will immediately be behind in development and will be forced to make some awkward moves to develop pieces and avoid losing material.

Chess is not a game of luck! You have to play good moves or your opponent will take advantage! And you have to capitalise on your opponent’s mistake! Luck is not a factor in chess, it is a strategy game, if your opponent is good, it will not be luck. Luck plays a minor factor in chess.

Join a club in your town, if you can. You will find many people who have been at the same level for years and years, yet still play and are always happy.

Today is January 15, and you just joined this site on January 9.

Improvement takes time.  If somebody started lifting weights 6 days ago, would you expect to notice an increase in their muscle size or strength already?

If you play 500 games and still don't see any improvement, you might be permanently stuck at the beginner level, but right now it's way too early to say that.  Spend a few months playing at least 100 games per month before you start worrying about your ability to improve.

When I look at adorableraccoondog's profile, I see January 9 as the join date.

Apparently, chess.com stores the time of day along with the join date, and they adjust for the reader's time zone when displaying a profile. 5am January 10 in your time zone (Norway) would be 11pm January 9 in my time zone, so I see January 9 and you see January 10.

In the first game you posted, why did you play 7 Bd2 instead of bxc3? Did you not see that you could play bxc3, or did you see it and reject it for some reason?
