How to fight off this pin?

Black's position is completely sound after White has pinned Black's KN, but avoiding K-side castling might be more comfortable for Black and, especially if White castles first on the K-side, gives Black better winning chances. [He may be able to start a pawn storm on the K-side].

I have never really understood why anyone asks this kind of question.  You can get good answers more quickly from chess.com's own on-line database!  And if moves without commentary don't make sense then a good book or video on the opening is a better way to learn.

@JamesColeman and thechessdreamer That's a good idea. But sometimes he goes h3 instead of 0-0, I'm trying to find a line that goes with both 0-0 and h3.

@nimzomalaysian The thing is, after Bxh6 my king is exposed.
@Telestu That's a good idea, but he usually puts heavy pressure on my knight's pin and sometimes I end up down a piece.

So after 6...h6 you're afraid of 7.Bg5 which immediately loses a piece for white?

After 6...Bg4 (or at any point before you've castled) you're afraid of meeting Bg5 with h6 and g5 immediately breaking the pin?

Anyway, already good advice in this topic. Up to you to make use of it.

Minh_Chess_Midget

I meant if I played the other moves, other than h6.

Also Bg5 then h6 and g5 works with the uncastled king. I think I may have misunderstood before.

BronsteinPawn

Usually when there is a knight ready to go to d5 in the Giuco Pianno you should avoid the pin on g5. And so h6 after d3 which may look like a patzerian/weakening move makes a lot of sense and is the 2nd most played move in my database.

Minh_Chess_Midget

@micky1943What if he plays 8. Bxh6? I get a vulerable king. Also, he plays h3 at times, I'm trying to find something that works with both h3 and 0-0.

@BronsteinPawn In my opinion, h6 results in Bxh6 which makes my king vulnerable.

Take your medication, dont forget to do your daily mental exercises, and never miss a class at the rehabilitation center, youll be good to go.

BronsteinPawn

Then resign on move 1. Bxh6 is a patzer move and any decent player should be able to defend that.

BronsteinPawn

Paying your friend so he resigns looks like a good way to work with everything.

Minh_Chess_Midget

@thechessdreamer I already said, 0-0-0 seems like the best option for me. Please don't post rude comments.

@BronsteinPawn OK...

Bxh6 is a blunder. You're either a really weak player or this is some form of very subtle trolling.

Minh_Chess_Midget

Still, I'd rather queenside castle than play h6. Also, just because I'm a weaker player than you doesn't mean you have to be rude to me about it.

Yeah yeah.

They're trollin you a bit here, don't worry about it too much.

Sometimes moves are scary when they shouldn't be. If the sacrifice is unsound and you lose anyway, you'll be able to learn something from the game. My advice is to force yourself to play scary moves when you know they should be ok. After all, even after you've been forced to make a few defensive moves, you'll just be up a piece.

Minh_Chess_Midget

Yeah, I should just experiment with different lines so I know the good moves.

Minh_Chess_Midget

@KingsGambling If I castle, h6 and g5 results in Bxg5 hxg5 Nxg5.

@micky1943 I think 0-0-0 or h6 are the best options, then.

Barry_Helafonte2

to break a pin

you can capture the piece

or put another piece to block it just like in Lazer Tag

Kingchessplayer2000
