At all levels a lot of women play pool. What is it about pool that attracts women?

The game of pool is highly interactive, more often than not in a bar/party setting which also allows for socializing. You can play pool with intensity or with abandon, it's fun either way. Women love interacting. Chess on the other hand, is far more introspective and 'solo' in nature. Takes a certain 'type' of woman, tending towards being an independent thinker, competitive and calculating. Spatial awareness also key. Chess attracts cerebral folks in general, be they male or female :)

I suppose you might argue that women with nice rear ends should play pool and women with ample cleavage should play chess....

If the reshreshments were limited only to cups of tea, you can get more women into the game, not as players but as caterers. Does it really matter if they play ?

At my local chess club, every time a female comes, that get driven away by overbearing men with no social skills who make them feel very uncomfortable.

You heavily implied that the reason women weren't into chess is because dorky men scare them off.

If we bring in the opposite, attractive men, the amount of females will soar.
