How to get past intermediate chess? (1000-1400)

And a coach can give you a few tips, but almost all the improvement will be you studying the homework the coach gives you. For example homework like reading a book...
So just read a book.
I would highly disagree, why would any student hire a coach if he is asked to study chess by himself. Coach is a person that saves your time, energy and give you motivation & directions to break barriers what might have taken years, if a person is working all by himself. (Not always true but most of the time). Believe me crossing 1000-1400 is a matter of few months, but with the right direction. No disrespect, but i have seen players who have been playing chess for years and yet they are not even 1000 chess.com. Every body knows how much chess knowledge is available for free, but not everyone can optimize it and players get confused what to do and what not to do, so finding an instructor really pave the way.

This is debatable, but alright the rest you wrote makes sense.

I dont know but i cant break 1200 i win all the games around this level but as soon as i go up i get sent right back down lol its probably my openings i play the petrov for both sides but the ancient four knights lmao and the berlin. I lose in the spanish, and so mostly use the scotch for white but lose playing against that as black
All those openings are absolutely fine. It will be your understanding of the middle game plans which arise from these openings which is holding you back. Plus hanging pieces - in the last 3 games you lost you hung a piece. The opening was not a factor.
You never will. One is born into ones rating.
I, fortunately enough, was born a master.
Just beat a Danny Rensch computer level 2500 to prove it.
*Smirks in supercilious*
yes. i also was birthed a master. it jus doesnt show on my rating because it would be unfair for me to try.
Check out the last game I played on my game archive. Or alternatively check out the post I made about that game. The ratings may have been equal but the way I outplayed my opponent was nothing short of a genius versus a patzer.
