How to only play rapid against diamond/gold members?

Sort:
Amonchess

people who purchased a membership on chess.com don't seem the type to me who would use cheat engines.

After all, why risk gettng banned and wasting the money spent on the membership?

I notice I can play premium members on daily chess, but not in rapid on chess.com.

Is it possible?

If not, chess.com please introduce this future. I hate playing against chess engines when I'm expecting to play against a human.

What is the time control in "rapid" chess?

Is this based on  your own statistical analysis? You don't think anyone sandbags just like they 'twink' in MMOs?

I know you can select "preimium only" in live chess settings. This will filter out any free members' seeks on the graph so that you don't see them. It wouldn't (as far as I know) stop a free member accepting a seek that you yourself create.

why would anybody sandbag when you don't get a money prize (or any prize at all)?

What planet do you live on?  Have you not witnessed in your life countless people doing countless pointless things on a regular basis that defy all logic and explanation (and not just on chess sites)?

I've seen people on here purposely lose tons of non-tournament games (by resigning after just a few moves) so that their rating is low enough to where they can sign up for tons of tournaments that are below their skill level in order to earn a crazy amount of tournament points and trophies, both of which are worth absolutely nothing.

You need a little more pessimism in your diet if you want to see things as they really are.

You seem like you're new to chess and judging by all of your forum threads you're serious about getting better, that's great! I'm going to give you some advice and this topic and you can take it or leave it, because it seems like you're falling into a very common pitfall.

Many people think they are cheated against all the time, that's why you always see the topic discussed on the forums, and why a lot of players have notes on their wall calling them cheaters. For some people this becomes almost an obsession and they become suspicious every time they get outplayed. This is a very unhealthy mindset to have for anyone wanting to improve because it takes the focus away from what is important. Instead of analysing their own mistakes and their weaknesses these players use it as an excuse for when they lose. People feel that if their opponent wasn't playing fair, they didn't really lose. They do this because chess players hate losing. That's it. It's a trick people play on their own ego so a loss doesn't feel so bad.

The fact is that cheating is very rare at beginner and intermediate levels and the amount of times people claim they were cheated against vastly outnumbers the times they were actually cheated against.

When my opponent is pulling mindblowing moves, that's not suspicious necessarily. Chess is a logic game. The mindblowing moves come when you play logically. Sometimes I make moves, and then it makes my position so much better than what my intention was. So my intention was to protect a piece, but after making the move I realise it also attacks the opponents queen or what, and then i can win a piece. Post-tactics move?

But when they disconnect before making a move, that's very suspicious. To me. I'm investing all this brain power, only to lose because a player is using a computer on me.

As a premium member, you can put out multiple seeks at once - if you get a premium member against you, you can accept it, and otherwise just let the abort timer run out (while your other seeks are still active, so you're not wasting time).

At your level though, I guarantee you there are practically no engine users.

How?

I tried doing this in rapid chess. It said there's an open game running.

@ Amonchess:

I still think what Harmbtn wrote is easily the most likely explanation.

And, what? -- you think they're cheating you by disconnecting right before they move?  What good would disconnecting do them?  I know virtually nothing about engines, but i don't think people need to temporarily disconnect from their game in order to use one -- that doesn't make sense.

Cherub_Enjel

You have to go to settings, and click "multiple games" or something - turn it on.

human-in-training

@ Cherub (and Amonchess):

Have you done that multiple seek thing much, and then let the accepted challenges that you don't want to abort on their own?  I was under the impression that that sort of thing is against 'fair play' policy, and that if you do it to often, those aborts will turn into resignations (and thus affect your rating).

Cherub_Enjel

I think if you just let the abort timer run, then it's not against fair play. Manual aborts are though, if you do it too much.

human-in-training

I used to have this weird neurosis where i would only want to play live chess against opponents who had uploaded an image for their avatar (instead of the boring, gray default image of a pawn), and after i had aborted two or three games in a row in order to find a more 'colorful' opponent, the 'abort' button disappeared and was replaced by a 'resign' button...and letting the auto-abort clock tick down wouldn't save me from being resigned and losing rating points.

It would take a day or two before the 'abort' button would reappear.

solskytz

People also cheat at low ratings.

They don't have to cheat during the entire game or every game, either - they can just use either an engine, or a stronger player (a brother, father, friend) on occasion, or when they feel down, etc.

I've seen this happen.

Persoanlly I do not understand any of you idiots.

Nearly 70% of all players online are cheats.

That's a fact.

Are you going to list a source for that number, or are you just blurting out whatever number agrees with your delusion?
