You can set the rating search to only seek players equal your rating and higher. For example a 1400 rated player could seek a game against anyone 1400-2200. You can't seek only those above your rating though, you have to include your rating.

Log into Live Chess, click settings at the top, click the filter tab and you should see where to enter rating information.
