Imagine situation like this: You have month or less to tournament you want to play very well
You are in team competition and you are holding the First board so the rest of the team counts on you .You know your preparation during the months was not quite good and you really underestimated remaining time, but you need to show some good chess ,what should you do?
It doesnt really make sense to start study some new books about openings or endgame theorem because you do not have enough time to understand it properly
You start to feel a little bit desperate about yourself and your mood for tournament started decreasing and decreasing and you are just praying for not losing that much points
Thats not the mood of leader !
You have to do two things :
1.ADMIT YOU ARE LAZY PIECE OF SHIT AND YOU SCREW YOUR PREPARATION UP
2.TRY TO GET YOURSELF IN SHAPE
I have quite different story but it has some good points too
I played this kind of event and i held the first board
I havent done much in last few months and i dont admit anything i thought "no stress i will make it" oh god i was so mistaken
The first game come to happen and i felt pretty nervous i didnt revise my repeirtoire , i didnt solve much of tactics i felt completely unprepared so what kind of results i expected?
I played terribly the whole tournament and luckily i managed to draw one game and save some remnants of honor but i still felt just horribly we placed in cause of that 4th from 5 teams and the last one had only 3 people
Really hard slap from chess goddess Caissa
But its not the end after that tournament i felt completely miserable and depressed but really motivated as well.I had two weeks to the national championship of juniors U16 and i knew i cannot play like in that tournament so i asked myself what would be the best thing to do
I started to solve a lot of tactics on this site like maybe 2-3 hours a day which for some people is not much but for me its really a lot of time and the results were stunishing
i arrived to national champioship and i had an amazing start 4 wins after 4 rounds and i clearly lead the tournament !
I felt amazingly confident about myself but i started to get nervous because 5 rounds ahead and i will now face the thoughest guys here
I somehow managed to save my honor and placed 3rd with 6 points from 9 games and +30 points to rating
pretty much difference right? Its never too late for getting yourself in shape of the tactical beast!
basic conclusion is that :
1 TRY TO SOLVE AS MANY TACTICS AS YOU CAN
2 ADMIT YOUR LAZINESS IN PREPARATION (this will help your mind to be more confident and less scared )
3 TELL YOURSELF YOU ARE THE BEAST ON CHESSBOARD
4 REVISE YOUR OPENING REPERTOIRE
5 HAVE FUN ( chess is at the end of the day art, science, sport and GAME )
its never too late
