How to report a player?

Sort:
knightwriter2000

I'm wondering how to report players for abuse at the table. I just played a game against someone named ****and at one move away from mate, (my move to make), he said that I'm going to have to wait the rest of the time of the game which was about thirty five minutes still. He would do that rather than let me get my win and let us both be on are way.

Is there anyway to report players like this? This isn't the first time that this has happened to me, but it definately takes away from the enjoyment I have here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

deal with it and stop being childish yourself - it happens all the time. you should go and make a cup of tea and come back in 40 minutes to relish the victory.

sonofegypt89

just play 3 min blitz

dont play long games

no, really, you are all soounding quite immature.  A way to report someone is a valid question.  I know that it keeps poeple in line if they get a warning (from personal experience).  Regulation is necessary.   I just had someone quit halfway through.  It is not something I should have to deal with.  People should be responsible enough not to start games unless they intend to see them through to the end.  We should not encourage troll -like behavior here neither in the games nor  the comments.   An online community is subject to the abuse of anonymous creeps.  And being able to report people is helpful...

You could have started another game...

Well done , Knightwriter2000  asked how to report a spoilt brat , the negative naysayers rushed to vent their silly posts / you got it right ( IMMATURE ).

To report abuse go to the little white window in the upper right hand corner of the screen that reads search. type in- report abuse. follow links.

Perpetual check is a legitimate defence for claiming draw. You are obviously unaware of rules of chess.

The mod removed the person's name from the post, but not the link to the person's page. Looks like ZeroTheBlackKnight left some nasty notes.

This is a fair qustion. Despite all the trollers. You can't just start a new game, try to stay focused on it, and expect to remember to keep watch on the other game. Because, every game troller knows that all he/she has to do is wait for you to stop paying attention, sneak in a move, and now your clock is running. Plus, if they decide it's time to resume play, now you have to play two games. And if you get into a situation where it's a dance in perpetual check, they can take your attention away from the first game, and now THAT person has to wait.

As I type this, I'm currently waiting for a timer to run out with the same problem. I checked the report abuse form but it seems to be focused on the chat, not on problems with chess etiquette like this. Is there anything I can do about this yet?

EDIT: Once the timer ran out I got a message saying that it has been noted so I guess there is automatic detection for this sort of thing.

CerebralAssassin

so u had to sit there and babysit a game for 35?good god....what a dick.

that's why I don't play longer games than 15 minutes hereLaughing

It just happened again with someone else and judging by their notes they've been doing stuff like this for months. Seems like chess.com should possibly ban them or something.

blyguy

Any decent online community has a banning system. These users do not help chess.com . Or at least make it a strikes system. Once a person abandons a game more than 3 times, they should immediately lose when they disconnect. Or they get a maximum of 1 min per move.

Something of this sort. It should be unfairly against the bad behaving players.

If they're really jerks about it, I'll mention that I will particularly enjoy taking their points from them.

Call 911.  Tell them you're very upset and you don't have time for that cr*p.

But seriously, I think there should be some way chess.com can stop chess trolling like that.  Bugs me too.
