how to stop misclicking?

i just keep losing and losing due to misclicks, for example i saw that i had a mate in this game(https://www.chess.com/game/live/75842605605) but lost by promoting to a knight by accident, is there any way to prevent these types of losses?

try dragging the pawn to the back rank.

i just use click instead of drag, it helps a lot

Play slower games and add a 5 second increment.

Everyone is different. I'm the opposite with my chess settings because I always drag pieces and point and click makes me blunder a lot. In fact, I changed my settings a dragging only and I've misclicked less often because of it.

Overall though, we can't eliminate misclicks entirely because we are human and there will always be human error in chess for us. The key is to minimize your misclicks and don't let the few misclicks bother you too much. I think of it as everyone misclicks roughly an equal amount, so it all balances out in the end; same with internet disconnects. This makes me feel a little less bad about losing to internet connection or a misclick.
