I mean the only way I have been able to stop is after i tilt a bunch
I recommend closing all chesscom tabs and doing something else off a computer
so just not going online for couple of days?

well I wouldn’t say stay offline but if you think you could do that and it would work go for it
ok ye good idea I just go play on my alt see you in 2-3 days if my self control doesn’t fall apart
Bullet is harmful for your chess so if you care about your chess improvement, you wouldn't be playing bullet.
I had self control... then I got bored and my self control went out the window. How to stop playing bullet/chess altogether for sometime?
Once a bullet player, always a bullet player. But you have games in other time controls as well.
It's not going to be easy to change your playing patterns, just as it takes effort for a smoker to quit smoking. It has to be gradual and can take weeks to do so.
Probably the best advice is to never start
For most people, this advice would come too late.

... i proceed to try to go on my alt when my account is not logged out... i'm so mad rn. eh at least it's working i guess?
Try to play games of 10 minutes or, much better, games of slower modes, one or two games minimum, maximum four (if you play more you could get stressed and end up playing bullet chess); If it's 20-minute games, don't play more than two; Study those games after you play, so you want to understand your game instead of going crazy with bullet games. If you are one of those who drink caffeine when playing bullet chess, leave coffee or drinks containing caffeine for a long time, bullet chess and caffeine combined are super addictive, I say this from personal experience. Do some physical activity for at least 10-15 minutes a day (at least) something moderately intense will do. I'm sure there are some other hobbies that distract you, I only made suggestions that I know will work for you.
Legend says that if you count all my chess.com tabs and tell me how many there are, then you'll stop playing bullet. I did and I'm not playing for like 10 days.
