The Van't Krujis Opening is a weak first move, but it's not that bad, as it doesn't harm you too much.

Here's some tricks:

Trick people into playing as White, as well as tricking them into playing the King's Pawn Opening

Trick people into playing the English Opening

Trick people into playing the Van't Krujis Opening, however, they can Trick you back with 2. e5

-

They tricked you - now if you push your pawn, it will be the Englund Gambit

You got tricked again!

Trick people into playing the Van Geet Opening

Its purpose is not to lose a tempo to play as if black, but rather to make good use of the extra tempo. It is by no means weak. If black can play ...e6 in the French Defence, the Sicilian Defence, the Queen's Gambit Declined, the Nimzovich Indian Defence, the Queen's Indian Defence, then surely white can open 1 e3.

Nimzovich used it to win the Carlsbad 1929 Tournament.
