I can't just Resign from all my current 29 games in progress. Would it be a good sportsmanship to do so? The territory on the Chess game board is as fractured as a map of the countries of the world.

Chess is at the same time, Addictive!!Innocent

"gasp", u sunk my battleship!!

All this drama is also a game in progress for me, 72 moves completed already. It's all about to collect statistics for thesis on AI emulation of Thought Pattern Recognition Software module and it's usefulness in AI Software for Human Language Translator using Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality and dialogue under a given context, here Chess and Psychology.

Thanks for your comments!! Your feedbacks will be useful in understanding networks and areas of all Human provided data, including piano.Cool

If you're not just flat out sick of the game, you could be suffering from some sort of burnout.  Playing chess all the time can become a bit monotonous; and I believe you can become quite bored with it. If you haven't done so already, take yourself a type of sabbatical for however long.  If the desire to play chess again returns, you may find yourself returning to the game quite refreshed and willing to again take on new challenges.  Personally, I've been idle from playing chess for almost five months now (give or take); but I do feel a desire gradually returning for picking up the game again.

I stand in agreement with you and several others who have posted to venture into other games, activities, etc.  It could be that your mind is either thirsty for new stimulation, or being liberated from constant strategic thought processes.

I suspect the poster seeks attention more from his odd postings than playing chess. It's sad that even negative attention can be rewarding. I suppose publically posting such disturbed though processes could be viewed as a cry for help. Too bad this cry can't be to those who are more personally involved.

@manavendra
I was staring at the chessboard thinking about chess being a language and suddenly I could read it. however it was in cyrillic so I could only interpret some of the words. I tried to learn cyrillic but it is very hard.

Maybe that is why so many grandmasters are russian because they can read chess.

just trying to be funny!

@ any other ,I think this post got to much attention another post which I thought was quite interesting got nearly no reply about if it was someone asking if it was nessesary to castle if he made an early queen sac.

Only a true chess player knows that it's worth their entire life to be good at it...

If you dislike chess, then you don't have to play. But about the "practice makes perfect" thing. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it makes progress (and it requires patience. Lots and lots ofpatience. Go over your games if you still haven't completely quit. You might notice that you made less mistakes, inaccuraacies, and blunders (difficult and complex positions and games can't be compared to simple ones) even though you lost. Don't be so negative, the progress is really slow (in a year of playing chess, my live ratings are below 1200 and my turn-based is just under 1400). If you really, truly don't like chess, you can quit, but don't quit so easily. If a world champion quit early, they would've never got where they got. Also, doing anything for too long can make it bring and dull.

Chess also stimulates your mind, but shouldn't get in the way of more important activities (that's why there's chess.com and urn-based correspondence chess).

I find it strange that you play on your games despite your talks of quitting and how you say that it would be unsportsman like to quit. Why don't you say that your quitting, resign, analyze the game afterward, and tell your opponent what you think should've happened if you didn't resign. It's unlike ly that many people would complain if they get a win.

Chess is something you can enjoy your whole life. It's a point of view.

REAL chess players would complain. A real chess player would want to win or lose after a well played game. Not just some meaningless charity win.

More importantly, real chess players LOVE to complain.  Which is why I think this guy has a real future in the game, despite his protestations to the contrary.

I am a real chess player and it wouldnt bother me a bit if someone made up their mind to quit chess and just resigned their game against me. Thats better than what some do.... leave and dont come back and just let the game(s) time out. I am curious, how do you define a " real " chess player ?

arthurdavidbert

A real chess player enjoys the game.

That's right, and I just said that to see if I could get Reb going, and sure enough, it did.

TheOldReb

I enjoy playing backgammon when I play and also texas hold em poker but I certainly dont consider myself a real poker player nor a real backgammon player.

Real chess players only play over the board....

JUST KIDDING!

All forms and flavors of chess are "real chess." However, you don't have to enjoy EVERY game to be a real chess player. When you get spanked, you can learn from the game but do you enjoy it?

I was in Boring Oregon many years ago. Is it still as boring as it was then?

You strike me as being rather prudish, Mr. Grobe.

TheGrobe

You posted with the sole intention of getting a rise out of Reb -- if that's not trolling, I don't know what is.
