I played for the first time this past weekend. Although not as 'deep' as chess, it was challenging.
The first game I got totally creamed. But, I figure that was just a 'get to know you' game.
The second was much better. For sure if I had not been studying chess for the past 4 months, I would have continued to get knocked around and beat-up.
In the end, I was 1-6(?)-4. I was pretty proud to get the draws.
When I returned home I did a search on checkers strategy, and it turns out there is quite a bit of material on the subject.
I think I would suggest learning to play a game of checkers to anyone who likes chess.
I'm better at checkers, so I will never put them down, lol.
