Just to point it out, though, you can easily quit all of your games by resigning and be done with chess forever. You can be even lazier and just stay away from chess.com and let your games time out.
I Was Playing too Many Chess Games!

If your rating goes down, so what? It will float back to your true rating after some games anyway, besides a rating is only a measure of performance, not a red-hot branding iron that brands you as a better of worse person. So as suggested, resign the games where you are at a disadvantage, offer a draw to those that are equal or winning, and play the rest in a relaxed manner.

hey Denver, I agree with just about everyone and hope it works out well, take off a couple months if you have to, then come back, if you want.

Tomorrow I bowl in the afternoon. Right after 3pm, I am going on a trip to Los Angeles and San Diego. I won't return for a week.
I have done my wash and packed my bag, had my oil changed on my Scion XB for the 559 mile trip.
I am taking my laptop and my travel chess set. My grandson will want to play a game or two.
So I truly will mark my self on Vacation tomorrow.

have a great vacation Denver!! maybe you send me a postcard of the naval base in San Diego!! My brother was based there after Vietnam and his time on the USS Coral Sea.
drive safe and enjoy!!

Enjoy yr vacation Denver. Take as long as you like. Only come back when you want to. " Burn out" happens but is usually only temporary. You've learned that 88 games are too many. Remember that!
Sending you a big hug across the pond. x

To go on vacation, you have to have all of your games set to the next player's move. Once I had enough games that by the time I finished moving other players already responded. I had to ask them to wait.
Thats true been a while since I had a vacation but had the same problem trying to do all my moves without opponents doing their next one!Had a day of chess apathy yeserday, resigning lots but got my chess heart/head on today so should be more persistent(unless I'm getting thrashed!)Theres always another day...

Thanks for the comment. If a paying member goes on vacation and games come up to the losing on time they are automatically placed on Vacation. No matter whos turn to move it is.
So in both of your case did all your opponents wait? Sounds like both of you had humorous situation.
Since I have 17 that would be impossible. I would have to make the moves at 3 in the morning while they were sleeping.

I managed to quickly get my moves in,not always the best tactic!Best of luck and hope you get those blighters sleeping!

I Went to all the game that were my moves and I made moves that before I never considered. I actually enjoyed making moves without regard as to the safety or unreasonable of the move and I even had fun.
Some of the games progressed quickly and they should finish soon.
I think that I was taking too much time trying to be cautious.
I offered someone a draw but it was ignored. So I might as well play without fear and let the games end. Better than resigning.
My friends, Thanks for all your suggestions and encouragements.
Denver
I actually enjoy in live chess to make mouse error clicks in the opening making moves I would never consider.

This is the funniest thing.
I played chess to finished the games and then since they are matches or tournaments more games are still to be played.
I don't think there is a withdraw feature.
Oh well I am off to vacation.
Oh yeah, I just got a brand new KINDLE FIRE from one of my sons so I can play chess, read and e-mail all the time. That is where I am going to vacation. I will have to learn how to use this gadget.

I'm on a break right now. Well, I've started playing live chess again and plan to start up some online games soon. I always have mixed feelings bout the online games. I hate feeling obligated to move. The games never seem real since the time between each move is quite a while, but then the middle game comes and thing seem more interesting. I tried to increase the time between moves so I didn't feel like I had to check chess.com every day, but then I'd ignore the games for a whole week and then have to rush to move before the next 10 minutes!
What has helped me when I get sick of chess is to play other games. I went through a classic XCOM phase recently. I'd still check the chess.com forums, but stayed away from reading things about tactics/theory. Now when I play XCOM, I feel I'd rather play chess.
