Was it a Blitz game ? In a Blitz game, anything can happen. People are not computers.
Even Magnus Carlsen himself famously missed a mate in one against Hikaru (so had Hikaru). I think it was a 1 minute game with no increment ? But not sure.

It happens occasionally, I lost 5-6 times to my 1100 student out of like 1000 casual games. But OPs claims are very suspicious.

One of the most evil things you can do is to find a 200 rated rapid player with 1600 daily score and play a game with then to steal their points (that are just the default starting values), so yes they probably started at 1600 but now are like 800 or something idk. a grandmaster could be hiding in a 300 account if they are doing a challenge to get to 2000 elo so you never know
