No, there is no glitch. You must have a weak connection.

It has happened to me too, but worse. It was a 1|0 bullet tournament game, and I was winning. His clock reached 0.00 seconds, but guess what? It was his turn, but I LOST ON TIME!!! UNBELIEVABLE!,

The best answer at this point is that you are mistaken when you accuse your opponents of stealing your time.

What you experience are lag adjustments, which chess.com makes to adjust for the lag between when you send a move and when the many hops of the internet bring it to the chess.com servers.  Even if you have a fast wifi, if there are many hops between your device and chess.com, you probably have to avoid playing bullet chess.

Still, slower more traditional forms of chess will provide you with endless hours of entertainment.

I think can I tell the difference between lag and cheating , if my opponent clock doesn't move 1 sec for over three moves and I'm losing time before I get a chance to move i call bs, why am I losing time while his remains

I had the same problem a few times, it seems as if your opponent doesnt move and loses on time, but then you are warned you actually lost on time. It hasn´t happened in a while, however.

When somebody uses pre-move, they only get charged 0.1 seconds for a move. Three premoves would amount to only 0.3 seconds.

If you played better, your opponents would have to think more.

Play better.

Your saying things i already know, I use premove, why am i losing time if you apply this logic genius, my clock starts running minus a few seconds b4 my move is applied, and as far as bad connection im on comcast and never have an issue with my Wi-Fi , your defending  your point as if your guilty of doing it or something

it is just that u lose everytime your connection becomes weak

Polar_Bear

Chess.com Live chess is bad. I am guessing intentional cheating with lag is extremely rare, but:

1) The server switches communication protocols with browser and this cause delays.

2) Such delay, if longer, is wrongly considered to be a lag on your side, and your time is retracted after reconnection.

3) If you play longer time control and do not move for a while, the server connection goes idle. When you make a move, it takes the server some time to register your move and switch your clock off.

I don't mind losing, but when I'm winning and have control over the board and my opponent clock is not losing time and I have more time on the clock but I start losing time before I'm able to move, yes that ruffle my feathers a little when I lose a gm im a few moves away from winning

Happens to me too. Glad I found this thread, I thought for a moment it was my imagination. Someone has a cheat out there, pretty sad if they feel the need to win so bad they have to resort to this kind of skullduggery. Never mind I’ll keep playing.

Oh my gosh!  I’ve just figured it out. It’s chess.coms punishment for us dropping games. Notmtwain and polar bear are in on the ruse, maybe working on the inside, they’re  just answering this thread to keep the ploy secret......hang on, hang on, there goes my imagination again.

In blitz and bullets there are ways to cheat on time by using special softwares and many use. If you notice your opponent’s time is going slowly that is the indicator.

This would be a form of cheating. Chess.com expends large resources to combat cheating. They don't publicize it very well.

Did you see the talk by Danny Rensch talking about how many accounts are closed every day?

You expect me to believe that the free sites have dedicated volunteer staff reviewing hundreds of cheating reports every day and using automated tools to identify suspected cheaters? I doubt it.

And the news reports on anti-cheating:

How many reports have you actually made by using the report button or sending an email to support@chess.com?

I’m playing this opponent who I am royally getting shellacked by.  Still his counter has read 2 hours now for 24 hours. I think I can win on time, but his counter won’t move.
