i hate this defeatist mentality most people have where they regard magnus carlsen as some sort of invincible chess god. he can be beaten and i would fancy the chances of many players on this site under the right circumstances to win a game against carlsen. it's not terribly difficult to believe
Under the right circumstances, yes. I would have beaten Tal if I'd had another five minutes on my clock.

... it was a clock simul game, and I was up K+R+P+P+P vs K+B+N (no other pieces or pawns left on the board) but my flag was hanging so I had to just vacuum all the pieces off the board to draw by bare kings... it was either that, or lose on time.
tho i do agree that its possible to beat someone like carlsen i also think it would jusbe insanely improbable. for a no name guy tobeat the best player in the world right. and to come right out and say that u know u can beat him...that is what i think is redidulous.even the best players in the world dont know for sure that they could beat him. and also for the game against Tal(that is crazy impressive by the way.hesprobably my favorite player of all time.) that was at a simul game. im sure if u jus had one game u vs him i think he would still probably win
Fine! :(
