I can only focus when I'm in important games. How do I focus and notice every threat the opponent makes and every blunder I make? thanks

Consider every game as a important game?

+1.  Don't treat any game as 'casual' (and stop playing Blitz).

Focus is vital. My last OTB opponent was smart enough to buy my lunch, including a pint of IPA, before the game. Of course, we didn't know we'd be playing each other until we returned from lunch. He also had a Bloody Mary with lunch, but his lunch was lighter. He won a nice miniature.

They should change the name of the game from "chess" to "concentration" because to win on a high level one needs to concentrate on each and every move. I heard on a chess video that when playing "postal" chess one should study each position for three hours.

The name concentration is taken by an electronic game with tweezers and buzzers.

I play online games, and it's hard to concentrate and not to drift off onto other web sites for news and entertainment.  I recently ran across a couple of extensions in Chrome which block off these websites until a certain amout of time is done in focusing on chess, and other work related sites.

This has been very helpful.

Wait a minute, wasn't Concentration that Art Fleming thing?

Was he the inventor of the Milton Bradley game?
