For me, a lot of it is repetition - I have a positional chess book "Reassess Your Chess" by Jeremy Silman that I read and study each week. I also have directed study with my chess coach where positional advantages/disadvantages are usually the focus.
It's just one of those things you have to keep practicing and be mindful of.

Reassess your chess is a great book.
I'd suggest rebrowsing positional stuff right before u play any serious otb tournaments (if u do play in em). Also don't play a lot of blitz, it makes players lazy mentally.
