You may be thinking of GM George Koltanowski, not Korchnoi.

It is easy once you get the pattern down. I can do it because I got a couple patterns from a book I have

The fact that there is a known solution that can be looked up and practiced doesn't make the feat of finding the solution on your own with no outside help any less difficult.

Hi, Loomis: Of course, cheater_1 one didn't say that he found the solution himself with no outside help, did he. And he is a cheat, after all, according to his own Profile, so . . . (He must do his cheating somewhere else, I guess, because it does not appear he plays here. Maybe he does all his cheating in Midwest, Wyoming, I dunno.)

Koltanowski would also take the name of cities, dates, words etc from the audience put one item on each square, turn his back to the board and do a knight's tour by calling out the item rather than the square.

I have successfully completed the KNIGHT'S TOUR!!! This is a puzzle that requires diligence and BRAINS..both of which I have a surplus of.
It requires you to move the knight around the board and land on EVERY square only ONCE. I have added this to my portfolio of accomplishments after several months of trying. Many people have done this before, so it's far from impossible--but it's dang tough. I do believe it was Korchnoi (I may be wrong) who could do it BLINDFOLDED!
Do you have what it takes? Follow the link to give it a try.
