BUt will they listen? This is the way they make money for goodness sakes!
Yes, you can't blame them for trying to make a living, but there is actually good content on YouTube. Also a lot of crap, so be careful.
It's interesting that the moderators will delete mention of the L word. But allow use of the word YouTube. Both are competitors. Both have to make money. Both have chess videos and comments about chess and chess videos. Yet one can be mentioned, while the other cant.
Hello Fellow Chess Players:
I will be brief. I have played chess since 1963. I learned on the streets of Rochdale Village from old Jewish men who were trying to help out an 8 year half jewish/half black kid find his way. Anywaz, when I got to high school I was lucky enough to get on the Jamaica High School Chess Team and that's when my formal education began. Danny taught me formal openings, (like the Roy Lopez), descriptive notation, (now almost obsolete), Chess Theory & Practise; as well as physically taking me to the House of games on West 72nd street in NYC and ocassionally to the Manhattan Chess Club! It was grand! Danny introduced me to tournament play and strategy. Unfortunatley, I had to move away to Westchester County and deal with family problems. However. the game, culture, strategy, art and love for chess has served me well in life and is most always enjoyavle - even when I loose. Sometimes, especially when I loose. this isbc one often learns more from games they loose, than the games they win!
That is the Primary reason I Hate Cheaters. Cheating used to be impossible in chess. But with technology - anything is possible. I have learned from negative experience that some IT savy chess players use this trick to win a game: they simply disconnect their computer line from the session while playing you, but instead of the operating system registering that your opponent disconnected and should be assigned the game loss; the system pegs you as the person that disconnected and assigns a loss to you.
Danny Kopec would have hated the evolution of chess into a form a competition where people coud cheat. Cheating does many negative things to a person over time, esp., ifthey value the activity. As I start a Masters Program in Data Security in January I will seek to help chess become cheater free partime as a hobby. then hopefully people such as:
