chess.com is for people to play chess at the very basic level. There is no obligation to help people get better at chess, because that's on you to learn chess.

Example: It's not in ACT, Inc's best interests to make everyone do good on the ACT.

Before the internet, people were able to learn chess without free video lessons. Why do you think so many people are thankful of youtube tutorials? It's because they don't have to wait several days for a guidebook.

Let's take music for example. In 1900s, nobody could carry music. In the late 1900s, you could bring music with you, but it was very unwieldly, and cost lots of money. Just for some music! Now, people complain about ads in their music.

They have other ways to get money

like what? ads?

Assuming 10 million people click ads each day, then it would make $150,000 a day, but don't forget, chess.com has to keep servers up all the time, 24/7, has to pay the people that work on the code, has to pay the staff, has to pay for pogchamps...

Chess.com is a business—they aren’t a public service. You are paying zero to play all the chess you want. Try asking a chess coach to teach you for free and see how well that goes.

chess.com is just trying to make money tbh

Yes, it is very annoying to watch only 30 seconds of a video and be stopped because you aren't a paying member. But there's always youtube happy.png

sndeww

Although after it happens a few times you learn lol

Advanced_Pawns

that is not fair to chess.com they NEED it that is just another way raise money

sndeww

yeah, when I was a normal member I got pretty ticked off. But whatever, I still could watch the first video of each lesson

more money = good. You can't complain about someone being successful.

"oh I think apple iphone is overpriced" complaining about a billion dollar company.
