Why is the can a pawn only take diagonally. It’s so stupid. Che’s is supposed to be like a war, but in a war pieces kill forwards, not diagonally. If chess was like a war, all the pawns would kill eachother, the bishops would run away the queen would make out with the king in a castle

Why can castles move? Why are bishops on the battlefield? Why do horses move like an L? How does a soldier going all the way to the end of the battlefield get to transform into either the king’s wife, a horse, a building, or a leading member of the church?
