Everyone who lives outside of Africa is ether an immigrant, or is descended from an immigrant.  And chess mastery is an achievement of the individual, not his/her nation.  So nationalistic pride about chess champions does not make much sense anyway.

I feel good about American chess, especially now that we have the chess capital of the world -- now I can see the super-GMs in person!

Looks like I am the only real American here because Booby Fischer obviously immigrated from Israel.
