And one more thing: when Fischer won the 1972 chess world championship it was the real victory of the cold war, USA beat the soviets at the core of their pride, and it was as important as going to the moon. But maybe going to the moon was just a trip.

@choretortle

By the way, learn from chess how to control yourself when you talk to people in forums or you might get banned by disrespectful behaviour.

It is just a game, however many people seem to forget this, ! 🙀

Ok, it's just a game for some people, I accept that, but for professional players is more than just a game. For historians and scientists it's also more than just a game. For the old Soviet union it was much more than just a game. For prison and school chess programs, it's also more than just a game.

But it's ok, I understand for some people chess is just a game, I respect their point of view.

it protects itself by installing beliefs in your head that it is just a game or a sport or is actually good for you.

LOL

If it's able to protect itself using telepathy, that makes more than just a simple game hahahh

Ah... That could explain why last year I was visited by those strange lights in my room... in the middle of the night... And then that large grey being, that left "Chessmaster 9000" game over the table... Right after that those lights disappeared. I thought it was Santa Claus, but are you suggesting it was an alien??

Maybe the psychedelic cat is right...

But if that's true, can you explain why that grey creature left chessmaster 9000, instead of "Chessmaster grandmaster edition", which is the updated game at that time?

I will not say more about the visit I received, because talking about sex is forbidden by chess.com forum rules. I can only say that chess pieces were involved in the event.

Thank you psychedelic cat, that perfectly explains about the old version of Chessmaster they left over the table.

Plus they took him back home. That's very nice from the aliens.

Too bad it's so damned addictive at the same time.

At least with chess I feel like I'm making progress though.  You really want frustration?  Take up golf.

golf...... HECK YEAH!!

Avatar of AlCzervik

people misunderstand golf. there is a perception that it is difficult, and i can't do it!

wrong.

there are crazy ideas out there, like, "i won't be tiger-i suck". if one has that mindset, they will suck.

Nothing has ever frustrated me the way chess frustrates me. In the span of about 15 games, I've lost what... 13? And every time I want to put my fist through a wall.

Does anyone else feel like beating the piss out of something when they play? Because I hate this ****ing game.

Avatar of Jeffh6789

I agree with chutmeg 1000% percent.

I've grown to hate chess and will never play again
