I hate some people!

what I am saying is you see the thorn in the other's eyes when you have a log coming out of yours, by only seeing their behavior as immature.  maybe a low rating in chess means that I don't know what is right or wrong, but I'm just telling you how I feel either way.  It is rude to ask someone to resign, if you want to finish the game mate or resign yourself and move on but saying anything in the first place seems rude even if they are being immature by not resigning from a lost position.  Win YOUR position and quit telling other people how to play.

If you like playing chess with people that gloat about how they're are waisting your time, then by all means flower go ahead and play them, i play chess to have a nice fun game and maybe a nice conversation, if you play for another reason that's fine

Interesting that the opponent's name was typed in the first place.

I don't understand the OP. He writes a post about what a jerk his opponent is. After a bit of discussion he agrees that he was out of line for asking his opponent to resign. Now he is back to defending his original position as vigorously as ever.

I hate it when people can't make up there mind on issues such as this!

Avatar of kco

and why was his last post #149 was deleted ? is was saying 'is ok to tell the player to resign'  knowing full well is not.

(am i the only one that hates people like this?)

Each game has it’s own alloted time controls. If you want to play faster then play more games at once so that you always have a ready opponent.

In some cases, if you try to force the issue of wanting an opponent to resign, you may find they retaliate and will only make one move per whatever the game time frame is, be it one move per day or one move per 14 days.

You got a win on time, and the ratings you wanted so you could play in higer rated tournaments.

He may have been a bad sport refusing to resign in a lost position (he offered a draw), but trying to force him to resign didn't help.

chess.com part of the FIDE ?

I think that solutions can be found for these things. We can tell some people to relax some of the time, but it gets old eventually.

For example, in Live Chess, a single-move time limit might encourage some people to play longer time controls, which few venture to do now.

If an opponent repeatedly offers a draw in a lost position, I also would come to a point where I would ask him to resign. Mark my words: 'ask'. Ofcourse there's no way to force someone to resign.

I don't see MasterThe Pawn's lack of courtesy, mentioned in earlier posts in this topic. In my opinion there's only one player in this case that can be blamed for not being courteous.

And regarding the posts about the right to use the allotted time: no problem if a player uses the time he's allowed to. But then only for playing chess... In a case like this the player is only using his time for harassing his opponent. Has nothing to do with playing chess...

Btw: repeatedly offering a draw is against the official FIDE-laws of chess.

At least someone gets it, thank you florisz
