I will be there. Please be relevant, helpful & nice!
I have high hopes for the new Bobby Fischer movie and here's why:

If memory serves me, he didn't WIN a rematch. He agreed to it, after the money was right. Johnny, the Fischer clock actually adds time. Very ingenious. I read the theory about it once. When the announcement was made that Tobby M would star in it; a thread was made then. (I'm thinking Jan ?). Myself, Glorax, and Dashkee had a ball with that. We thought up commedic scenes. Bobby has a pet squirrel that tells him the moves, and on, and on. God that was funny. I don't care much for Bobby. There's a thread now about his medical condition. I'll go see the movie thow. Johnny, actually, it doesn't matter what they do with the movie. It can be absolutely perfect. The question will be, what competition will it be up against those 1st few weeks.

3. There is actually some very good chess movies
"The pawn who would be queen" Starring Sean (My accent is fake) Connery.

Or perhaps the lesser known LOTR spin-off trilogy: "The Fellowship of the King", "The Two Bishops" and "The Return of the King's Gambit"
I wonder if it's really going to be good. I mean, it's pretty hard to portray Fischer but I hope that the main actor is going to do it well.
BTW: Searching for Bobby Fischer is a very good movie, but it's not about Bobby Fischer, but young Josh Waitzkin.
Owen WIlson as Bobby Fischer and Gwyneth Paltrow as Boris Spassky.
This comment actually made me laugh out loud while I was eating my sandwich.
I personally would like to see Enter the (Sicilian) Dragon, replete with copious amounts of martial arts, preferably between Sicily's defending kung-fu champion and an aggressive attacker from the former Yugoslavia.

2. There is nothing I need or want to know about Fischer. His life was myopic and not very interesting.
3. No more chess movies would be a blessing.
The guy did NOTHING after winning the title. One day soon he will be relegated to the footnote to history he deserves. Once all of the fischer-philes drop off the planet the rest of humanity will be spared the tedium of having to hear any more about this fuktard human being.
Were it not for a form of twisted nationalism he would already be mostly pushed out of our collective consciousness.
- Why is his life not very interesting? Sure the only thing he lived and breathed was chess, but there is his troubled childhood with a dad who left when he was 2, the entire Russian empire that wanted his head, the FBI file on Fischer that contains some interesting information, his mental condition etc. (It's doesn't appear to be the focus of the movie though, but that's not the issue here.) So sure there are SOME interesting aspects in his life.
- Why should he deserve to be a footnote in the history of chess? A world champion a footnote? Forget about it, it's not going to happen. Opinions differ of course, but he is considered by many to be the best and most talented chess player who ever lived, having played absolutely stunning and bueatiful games. The fact that he displayed socially unacceptable behavior (see for example some of his quotes on http://www.chessquotes.com/player-fischer) doesn't mean he is a nobody. Unadjusted, sure. But a retard? Don't think so.
Why the hatred against Fischer? Because of his mental condition, which resulted in some crazy rants on shady radio stations? The guy was brilliant, even Kasparov looked up against him. Sure some people take their adoration a little bit too far and tend to easily forget the nasty and twisted things he said, but hey, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Why the hatred against Fischer?
Because some people have small minds and cannot stand when someone does something great.
How many times have we seen people talk shit about Magnus Carlsen on this site?

post 38, "The Patzer, An Unexpected Blunder" the story of a man who didn't want world fame and the consequences of how it destroyed his life when it was thrust upon him.

With the amount of time that he spent studying chess, its no wonder that his games were a thing of beauty. The same could be said by a lot of people in society. Buddy Rich with drums, Serena Williams with tennis, Johnny Carson with comedy, Tom Brady with football. I can't comment about his personal demons because I've got enought of my own.

Owen WIlson as Bobby Fischer and Gwyneth Paltrow as Boris Spassky.
How about Tom Cruise as Bobby and they get Dolph Lundgrun (not sure about the spelling - the bloke who played "Ivan Drago", the bad guy in Rocky IV) as Spassky. Let's also have Mr T as a street hustler player.
And the first game should end with Spassky announcing "Checkmate, puny American!", and Fischer looking all shocked and surprised.
It's also important that they get the board the wrong way round in most scenes (I believe it's compulsory to get the board the wrong way round whenever chess appears on telly anyway, only explanation for how often they get this wrong)

This graph speaks for itself.
USCF memberships

Memberships rose after 1972 (Bobby Fischer won the World championship) and 1992 (Bobby Fischer again bid for the World championship :)) )
When you have a World champion from your country, memberships will rise; money will pour in - Simple fact.
World champions can come from anywhere, we cannot decide it. But, if the World champion is from a rich country, there are benefits to the involved sport.

I think every single member of Chess.com should make it his duty to see this film on opening night, and bring one friend. That means that ten million members bringing one friend, twenty million tickets sold at $10 a ticket opening weekend = first weekend gross of $200 million, which would really put chess movies on the map.
I mean, if those religious people can boost up cheaply made crap like Son of God and God's not Dead at the box office why can't chess people do the same?
Gods Not Dead is actually a very good movie.
I liked searching for bobby fischer.
