The Help&Support forum is misnamed, as the last thing you're getting for posting there is actual help or any sort of support. I'm sorry that I'm virtually forced to drag this out into the public, but I feel I've got no choice left. I hate thieves!

Been in a tough spot and keep getting excited about getting premium

But I keep seeing threads like this........

You have to treat everyone right

Especially paying patrons on your site

This makes me incredibly hesitant

If i were you I would get a refund and use the money somewhere more useful (as it seems like a complete waste here if you not only don't get what you paid for but at least some sort of response in a reasonable Amount of time

And not doing such to make a point.

Just because it seems silly to subacribe to a place that has such terrible customer service

That's strange, because I paid for my membership through PayPal and my upgrade was instant. Hope it goes through for you real soon.

My brother did the formalities for me ... those 5 bucks for Gold membership were withdrawn from his account which I instantly paid him back in cash (I'm a computer illiterate, I'm even hesitant using a debit card of any sorts). 

I can't ask him right now, but the payment was clearly visible on his withdrawal list the next moment he hit 'Enter' ...

I sent in my membership and they promptly sent my money back, saying they didn't want people like me hanging around here.

Just kidding. I didn't have a bit of problem with PayPal.

It's too bad the OP was so frustrated that he closed his account but I don't think chess.com was trying to steal $5.00 from him.  It is more likely that there was an issue with the payment.  

It was not his PayPal account so it could have tripped a fraud alert or the payment might not have gone through.  Sometimes these things feel like a personal slight even if it was not.
