It's far easier to use reality than to force it to conform it to your motives.

My ideology when playing chess is: "Assume that you are playing against the perfect engine that always makes the best move". This way your play is based solely on what's on the board and not on some subjective irrelevant factors, like "What if he doesn't figure out my plan and doesn't counter it in time?"

Nice! Are you a Chesterton lover too (like me; I've read all his books), or did you just see those quotes somewhere and saw a particular meaning in them? Chesterton has another quote which you may find interesting: "Poets don't go mad, but chess-players do." Meaning that those who think outside of themselves (or outside of the box, as you were saying) are better off than those who think within themselves, in a confined space. Not that chess-players always think in a box, but they are certainly more prone to such thought than those of a more poetic frame of mind. Food for thought!

I was gonna say I just read the first sentence (which is true) but since this post seems to be serious I will just say:

I have never read a book by Chesterton but I came across a quote of his in a book by Benjamin Graham. It was either 'Security Analysis' or 'The intelligent Investor' (I recommend both those books and so does Warren Buffett). I am feeling the sudden urge to go to the library and a find a book by someone named G.K. Chesterton. By his ability to examine the obvious (considering his quotes), which is undervalued, he is the Thomas Sowell of theology, as Sowell is the Chesterton of economics. I recommend Thomas Sowell's books too, unless you are extremely politically biased and hate capitalism. lol. Thank you so much for commenting, I appreciate your input

I apologize in advance, this might make you cringe, but I haven't yet heard the word 'Kaynight'. Thank you so much for the appreciation!

I wonder if there was ever a time when people widely called #hashtag by the definitive name 'octothorp'
