I like having queen odds against the computer.

I get to see it's amazing tactics while still feeling like I can try some plans and not feel futile. The game usually ends in a draw. It sneaks around and unveils 3-move forced tactics that nip off my pieces till an even end game. I learn to watch out for those. It also does a good job or barricading the board and building fortresses. Sometimes letting it play itself is the only way to see how to break the fortress. Pieces I think I must guard actually can be left en prise.

Well, lately the computer willingly trades down to an endgame where I can win with the extra material. Seems like it is not trying to trick me. But it did catch my mistake and traded a rook for my queen. So my goal now is not just to win but to stay a queen up.

Well now I'm beating it easily because the computer asks for trades. I doubt level 10 is always level 10. The blunder checker still says I'm missing faster checkmates. So much for the perfect drill.

I even played a normal game against level 10, and lasted to the endgame with almost even material. I doubt it is really 2600. I make my moves fast to keep it fair. Then level 7 crushes me on other days.
