I spend hours studying opening so I know you're supposed to develop minor pieces and attack the center. but I play people that only move pawns and they crush me. I've played like 1000 10 minutes games and I haven't gotten any better

You probably need some raw meat in your diet.

Don't study openings. At your level it's waste of time. Rather practice tactics and study some strategical stuffs

SilentKnighte5

Do the opposite of whatever you've been doing.

X_exterminator_X

try to analyse your games. That helped me a lot.

I recently started playing again and really struggle at the limited time of 10min... in my long games I am somewhere around 1400 but dropped down in the 800's recently at 10min chess.  So I decided to review every game I played and take note of the blunders (usually 2 or 3 a game) and I have started trying to play a similar opening every game for consistency. I recently just got back to 1000 after a few days and maybe this could help you?

Once you know and consistently apply opening principles you can safely table opening study at large. You should work often on learning lots of different tactical set ups and ideas and practice them by solving chess puzzles. You may also want to review master games to pick up what strategies they seem to apply in various positions. I highly recommend you learn the basic endgame necessities too- king and queen v king mate, king, rook v king mate.

You're failing against the pawns because you're not studying tactics - which should be at least 3/4 of your studying - and so you don't recognize the patterns and combinations that your opponent's weak moves are setting up for you.

If you learn the kinds of tactics that can occur in chess, and there's a tremendous interactive list you should memorize at http://chesstempo.com/tactical-motifs.html, you can often see a tactic you can play (fork, double-attack, etc.) that you can pull-off if you first clear a piece out of the way or attract it to a square where it's out of the way.  With enemy pawns, that often means using pawns of your own to punch holes in their wall.

Since you have Diamond Membership would suggest working the tactics problems at chesstempo.com or here at least 1/2 hour per day and take your time and look for a good solution if necessary.  I would also watch IM Danny Rensch's "patterns"/"...you should know" videos at chess.com.

I looked at your games and i seen you overextend your queenpawn also leaving bishops blocked in the opening. Not food either. I think you need to read the book "pawnpower" by angus dunnington.

Its pretty advanced so take your time on it. It will give you tips and tidbits about what you need to know about pawns. It should help.  One of the best books out thier.

Try "Logical Chess: Move by Move"

Yeah, take up women, they're easier to mate. But first take off that silly mask or you won't get any women either.

Your rapid rating is now 1145, so you are improving.  Another 5 rating points and you can hire yourself out as a chess coach and become as Rasputin was to the Russian Queen, you can become to chess coaching.

Seriously if you play slower chess games, study "Logical Chess: Move by Move" and do tactics you will most likely improve.

Play, analyze your game, study, do tactics;  Play, analyze your game, study, do tactics; repeat for awhile.  Come back with a new question when you reach 1200 or 1250.

     Congratulations!

Work on tactics and play 15 minute games instead. Simple but it's what I do happy.png

This is bad news and good news---bad news for you, but good news for me because I need to be able to beat someone on Chess.com

Cheer up.  It's worse if your girlfriend left you just after you spent $4,000 for plastic surgery for her.
