Quit playing blitz and bullet. You won't improve playing fast games. Do you study the game in anyway? Have you read any books?

The old saying is take two weeks off, then quit. The reason that works is because you probably wont quit, but taking time off really does work. There are other things in life that directly help what you are trying to do. Me for example, when I took a couple years off from golf, I improved tremendously. It's because the time off allows you to gain a broader perspective on what it is you really want, and how important it really is. Of course perfect practice makes perfect performance, but the reality is perfect practice isn't possible for most of us. So do what you love. Hiking the Cascade mountains has made me a better chess player more than any book or lesson ever could.

I understand what your saying Mr. Foghorn but still and all I noticed that your rapid rating is almost 1500. You must know that your rating puts you above the 90th percentile of a rating pool that has over one million players. I would say that's quite an achievement. But like the young woman said about taking a break from chess. You will invariability charge up your batteries and come back after your break feeling like a new man. Best of luck to you Mr. Foghorn.

Take a break and play the new trending game on the internet ,the 'Blue whale suicide game' and come back as a new man with a renewed soul!!

I study. Do tactics. I used to have a chess coach who I paid $50 per lesson. Yet, I still get beat by people who learned the game a week prior. Chess is a beautiful game, but it does not seem to be something I can be remotely decent at.

You have a decent rapid rating...
Avatar of Foghorn19

The rapid rating is based on one game where the opponent lost on like the 5th move due to time.

None of your games I've looked at make it past move 3.

I had a look at your info...

What the hell man!?? Most of your games consist of 4-5 moves and here you are complaining about progress!?

How do you expect to improve if you don't move? ( that's a pretty catchy saying brought to you by the duck, copyright pending)

As far as the games go where you actually played....I must agree with you. You suck.

Whenever reality refuses to bite, the duck does the job.
