Nobody would ever know and you could've continued as if nothing happened, but now that you've made a thread about you cheating, you will instead be removed from the platform.
I think I cheated, I need chess.com to remove elo and make it a draw, or loss for myself.
We forgive you. Or at least I do. And now for penance you have to make the coffee. Think I'll go do that now.
You score points for contrition. Spellchecker changed penance to Penzance. Hilarious.
One thing I've noticed playing Stockfish is that I will always cheat if analysis is showing. It's like my eyes are magnetically attracted to seeing the right answer. Kind of like being in school taking a test next to the smart kid. Turn off your engines, close your books and stay off of Youtube.
If anybody ever feels bad about cheating there is always the resign button. No questions asked. Amnesty granted.
Watched a video in the middle of a 10-minute game with no increment? Good story.
I'm so stupid. Why do I fall for these stories everytime?
Its not cheating to look up a mating pattern, inputting your specific position into an engine IS cheating, looking up a common mating pattern no
Everybody please applaud OP for his honesty theatre.👏👏👏👏👏👏

Yes, it is cheating to look up a mating pattern in a live game. No outside assistance is allowed, and that would include watching chess videos.
The following rules apply to ANY GAME CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS:
• For “Live” games (as in ‘over-the-board’ i.e. OTB, games) it is ILLEGAL to consult or employ ANY external aid or resource, including human assistance.
• For “Daily” games (as in so-called ‘correspondence’ chess) it is LEGAL to consult passive resources such as books, articles, online databases, opening explorers, etc. However, it is ILLEGAL to use computers/chess engines to calculate moves, or to consult with another human about the game.

I couldn't remember how to checkmate with rook and king, so I looked up a youtube video because I couldn't figure out how to force him in the position. I didn't actually watch the video, I just fast forwarded until I got to the position that showed me what I was looking for to make sure I was doing it right.
Immediately after looking up the video, the opponent kept putting himself in exactly the position I needed him to be in.
It wasn't intentional cheating, but I should have waited until the match was over.
Here is the game https://www.chess.com/game/live/65457678537?username=vvasu13
vvasu13 is who should probably get the points for the win, or at the very least points provided back, and mine removed.
I didn't mean to, I wasn't really even thinking about it, I'm so low elo that I wasn't sure if I was right in where I needed him to be, but at the end of the day, I used an external video to see the position? that I needed his king to be in.
I hope I don't get banned, especially since I'm self reporting, and nobody would ever know.
I am legitimately my elo, I knew I'd be low elo, that's why my account name is 'thelowelo'. I mean...I'm fairly sure the 'chess speaks for itself' and you can tell...I suck. Regardless, please adjust the point system, it occurred to me like 5-10 minutes after the game that it may be considered cheating, and I'm not about that.
