I'm not fond of the Sveshnikov.

How much did you study it first? How many times did you run it against the computer to see what weaknesses it find against you that you could shore up? How many times did you run it through chessbase to take a look at the main lines and strengths and pitfalls? Learning a new opening is fun but it takes a lot of tuning and kicking the tires to find out how it plays with your style. Openings are like beautiful women. You gotta try em out for a while before you commit to them in the big show!

@FaceCrusher

Haha I know very little right now. Note that this was a blitz tournament - thats where I conduct my experiments! #chesslaboratory

Face Crusher - with beautiful women, you dive straight in and if you realise you jumped into shark infested waters.... you get the **** out of there.

Well, I guess a chess opening can't run away with the mailman and take half your money in court too...

Please do not play sveshnikov, you are only playing for a result with it and you will never have a fun, exciting game that the Sicilian was supposed to give you. Both you and your opponents will get depression, and in turn the amount of alcohol and drug users will go up, with an increase in suicide rates. You will do good to both the world and yourself if you stop playing it.

In most games of Sicilian Sveshnikov in TCEC computer chess, black lose. It is terrible opening for black.  http://tcec.chessdom.com/live.php

12... Bxb5?? was a blunder. Up until then your play was solid enough. Book up on it, the Sveshnikov is highly theoretical but can be effective at non-master levels
