I was often told that It takes years to go from 1000-1500. And I think it is absolutely not true.

Also about your comment that there is no difference between 1200-1700 is completely hilarious... There is a huge difference

Different for everyone, no such thing as saying it takes this long or that long, many players easily reach a level that other people never reach even after years of toil and sweat. But those same people who seemingly can’t reach 1500 (or whenever eating) may be brilliant at something else outside of chess.

yep true there is more to life than just chess lol

@DrHussamNoobBlunders I’m game. My schedule is everywhere so let’s do a daily game as I grab rapid games randomly when I get a chance.

for sure broski <3

The problem with longer time controls is that your opponent also gets longer time controls and also plays better haha.
Actually longer time controls helps me. I’m 53 and can think deeply but not quickly. I’m 1300 now at rapid. If I play 10 mins I drop. If I play 30 I climb.
When reviewing my games, I almost always have an advantage after the opening. The middle is a mixed bag of nuts with great and even brilliant moves to gain a 4 or even 5 point advantage…only to blunder the game away.
If I’m even in the end game I’m going to lose…I have to get there with at least a 2 pawn advantage…or I lose it seems.
As a result I have learned to try to win in the middle game and skip the end game so a lot of sacs that look to give me a mate chance…but it’s hope chess only to find out I’m a pawn short or a tempo too slow and lose it.

lol all of my games go like that. Literally every game I played here i was completely winning and then i blunder under time pressure or just a stupid one move blunder where i stop seeing the board ahahah

So first of all you can play 10 1200 and 10 1700 and see who wins more... And IDK how you can say 1200 are almost the same as 1700 if you aren't even 1700 🤔

HangingPiecesChomper

i see very little difference between a 1200 and a 1700, they both hang their pieces like crazy

give 1-2 months and I will make another thread stating there is no difference between 1200 and 1700 <3 I just have to chomp on hanging pieces

Verwarr

Maybe it is for a fide rating, not for chess.com rating. Idk, I just throw my guess.

Hangingpieceschomper is an engine user lol... But ok... So why aren't you 1700 if that is the same thing as 1500??

What I’m confused about is how you have a “stable” rating when you lose 61% of your games

I don't want to argue, but losing because of time pressure is your own fault

Alekhine (who was a world-class expert both on chess and on being drunk) said that a chess player who claims that he only lost the game because he ran short of time is just as cupable as an automobile driver who claims that he only had an accident because he was drunk.
