We need to start colonizing the galaxy, because the Earth will not last forever.  It is not cost-effective for full-size humans to cross the interstellar gulf, to say nothing of the risk of sending a generation ship to a star system of unknown hospitability, so here's the idea.  Sperm and eggs.  We build a lot of ships on the cheap, load them with sperm and eggs and shoot them at all the stars in our arm of the Milky Way.  The ship's AI will decide where to land, mix the gametes, fetuses will gestate in biopods, then nuturebots and teacherbots will take care of the first generation.  I still have a lot of high-quality sperm to contribute (even at my advanced age) and I'm willing to keep shaking it until liftoff.
