He is a strong blitz player with attention problems, or maybe he just wants to have fun, in a pool where everyone is a patzer or amateur it is easy to go high in ratings. Probably an FM or something, chess.com didn't ban him for cheating.
If Najgrunfeld is...

Alireza Firouzja plays najdorf & grunfeld mostly as black.
Part of it's got to be those expectations this creates - Najgrunfeld has said himself that, what, if he's not GM by 20 that he'll give up the game? Very Josh Waitzkin-esque - did very well very young, found the requirements of GM a lot harder and felt "constrained' by the disciplined style that Pandolfini tried to teach him, got fed up with it (either not being able to achieve what he wanted in the time frame he wanted or just too impatient with it all) and went and took up tai chi instead.
Same probably happens to a lot of child prodigies along the way.

Najgrundfeld actually said he is an IM and that his first fide rating was 2152 so that cant be him
Look guys. Either Najgrunfeld is....
1) One of the greatest players of all time who doesn't authenticate himself because despite wanting to convince us can't be bothered to post authentication or enjoys the tension over people not knowing.
or
2) A cheater troll joker who doesn't authenticate himself because he's full of ****.
Now which do you think is more likely? I guess the former is possible. If you think that he wouldn't be able to cheat properly or effectively because of his age and how he talks, then you underestimate all the cheating devices and programs out there and how competent youngsters can be with computers.
Either way, he is not worth considering until we receive authentication.
That means, there is no point in speculating in any way, forget about him.
are we allowed to figure out who world #1 U13 is?
so far as I can tell from the list that is Awonder Liang. How is he progressing?
all this Big "best prodigy" since fischer is a little speculative. Magnus had quite the improvement in terms of rating. is it possible to plot Magnus versus U13 world #1 and world #2
note that, as I READ the rules nothing is forbidden- never mind Nag who maybe completely a hoax.
is the current U13 beating or exceeding what MC has done. after all you can't be the "biggest prodigy since fischer" if you haven't exceeded MC.
but to start, anyone want to set me strait of EXACTLY are U13 #1 and #2 (per August 16).... I can only find the top junior list.
A person can lie about their age and achievements and still be a good player. All it takes is some immaturity... and no one doubts NG had that.
Given and granted...
lets talk about the actual U14 champion
who is Andrey Esipenko
from what I can tell his rating is
August 2490
July 2477
June 2471
May 2471
April 2463
March 2445
is his numbers beating MC. I don't have a wikipedia, so I don't know his exact birth date. I also don't think I have access to MC's scholastic numbers....
though perhaps if I google it...

Why? What's the point? So you can tell us all here about your "investigations"? Nobody cares. I suggest you find something more useful to do.
well, let us establish ONE thing.
when MC was 14, he had a tournament with a performance rating of 2702!
that is freakin Huge. with all these "NaJ" bragging- MC was eating GM's for breakfast when Naj is only eating IM's.
so just initially I am less impressed. why is it SO freakin hard to find historical ratings of WC's?
If you are doing anything differently to how you would have done because of Najgrunfeld being on this site then you're wasting your time.
ok, both MC and the current WC challenger (and prodigy) SK
have done better
Magnus
13.... 2468
13.5...2559
14..... 2559
Sergei
13...2556
13.5..2556
14... 256x
SK was in a bit of a slump. he broke though later.
the point is andrey is doing great! but he is breaking no records. Karjakin did better- and I haven't bothered to look up later prodigy's such as the americans- Carauna, Nakamura or the younger yet Wei Yi.
if #1 under 14 is NOT the "best prodigy since fischer", logically #2 can't be.
@spaghetti-O
(?)
anyways it is done. 10 minutes , maybe 15 that I will never get back. think of all the things I could have done.
oc.
thats all applies to anything said here.
the forum is a gigantuum waste of time. and you can be trollish, braggy, mean, pleasant, grumpy...
its all a waste of time. bye!
This kid was 10 (just turned, or about to turn 11 I think) and is an IM with a 2400+ rating.
R. Praggnanandhaa
Only heard about him from youtube video showing a game where he beat a GM.
I don't think I like you, spaghetto.
that was very rude.
Its NOT a waste of time? and whats up with the insult? block me and move along with your life. I'll say what I think on the forums and there's nothing you can do about it.
the OP wanted to see where U14#1 stood with historic prodigies- and I did it. IMHO it was an interesting comparison.
the current U14 is good , but not historic.
as always Mr D, nice to see your post. a U10 with 2400+ very cool. the thing is I can get to FIDE "top juniors" but cannot sort them for birth year. very annoying.
I don't think the kid from India breaks the top 100. that puts him just him under 2450 ish. ... but still 10! wow.
both the no. 2 U14 player in the world AND the greatest prodigy since Fischer, where does that leave the current no. 1 U14 player in the world? Above Najgrunfeld (on account of his higher ranking) or below (on account of his not being the greatest prodigy since Fischer - impossible, as Najgrunfeld himself reliably informs us that only he holds this accolade). And where do both of these young geniuses rank by comparison to Fischer? Above, given their access to modern engines and the chess revolution brought about by computers, or below, considering they're y'know, not world championship winners? So many questions and so little objectivity, buddy.
