If You Could Fix One Thing On Chess.com, What Would It Be?
@ CrazyJae I think chess.com does a good job of plowing the abusive trolls into the chess.com dungon, and being funny is not a crime so I agree.
Forum quality doesn't seem to be a site issue unfortunately.
If you want quality, go to the fourm categories that require straightforward talk about what you are interested in.
Your stuff is good Hess, I meant stuff like anything ALIVE trainwrecks.
Well thanks, and there are Trainwrecks.
One suggestion I've seen in other threads like this is allowing the OP to delete posts. It sounds good at first, but perhaps could be abused.
The OP has the option to block them but deleting a comment should be up to the Moderators in my opinion.
I like Equiv's suggestion on page one:
Suppose we're spectating the previous position of an ongoing live chess match, when a new is made every time, it should not get to the current board position since my purpose was to analyze and I can always get back to the live game.
HOwever, it is understandable that this is not a good idea if that live chess match is our own.
The meanness of spirit of a significant number of people who post uncharitable comments in some of the forums. While it is incontrovertible that chess is a war game, that does not mean that such an attitude should be transferred off the board. Furthermore, isn't it true that when we talk about our hobby-passion to non-chessletes that we speak of PLAYing chess?
I would make chess 960 a live option.
You are the second person on this thread who would like that option added.
Forum moderation beyond enforcing only what would be criminally liable not to.
What are the posts that you have seen that are criminal? The Moderators cover all kinds posts that go over the line of decency.
I haven't seen many that are criminal... which is my point, those are about the only ones they take care of.
But yes, I'm exaggerating to make a point. What I'd like is to see is spam / troll / stupid / rude / non-chess topics aggressively deleted.
I also don't think this is the biggest issue in context of the whole user base. And it may not even be practical. But the title says what do I want, so I get to be selfish here ;)
i would allow the use of engines in online chess and thus put an end to the hypocrisy that surrounds it.

Yes the title says "If you could fix one thing on chess.com, what would it be?" I have to ask you though, what problem do you have with the option chess.com has provided to discuss movies, songs, funny things in life, sad things in life, and whatever 11 million chess players might want to talk about that is civilized?
one needs to replace the forum posts which lives beyond five messages.
after five posts the point of the original post is lost.
if the post is good, one may start a fresh post to continue the same point.
but to read "what are you listening to ?"..or "is boris spassky the greatest russian of all time ? ...is quite a boring post.
for posts to be lively, they must be germane.
to be germane they must be germane.
brevity allows germaness.
five posts per posts and then the post is locked.
if it was a really good post, after six posts, then let the seventh person start/continue the post.
I'd delete the accounts of certain abusive trolls.
