If you don’t accept at least one rematch after you win, then you lose.

You are absolutely not entitled to a rematch. Period.

If you don't like losing, then use the game analysis feature and figure out what went wrong. Or use the tactics trainer, lessons, opening book, whatever. But don't complain because you don't get a rematch.

Jimjump

By saying there is no luck involved in chess you are saying there are no mistakes made in chess. One man's mistake is another man's luck. At my level there is a lot of luck involved.

wolfgang37

Another's mistake is not luck, only a lack of skill

Its 1 game of online chess.  Let the ego go.

Jimjump

If we're playing and you get distracted and make a bad move then that is beneficial / fortunate / lucky for me. We could go on but for me I'm going to leave it here. I don't know who won this argument / discussion but I'm not giving you the rematch. Now do you think that's fair or would you prefer if we kept talking until you were declared the winner. Which is the op's point. Anyway good luck to you.

Nubbycheeseking, thank you for asking. Too many times I have lost a game just to sit up and go, “I’ve got this!” as I click rematch. If the opponent leaves without a rematch, then I know the opponent also felt I had them. All it takes is one more game to prove it, to seal the deal...and they know that. But they would rather be afraid of losing than lose. Better to hope I think they’re better than prove otherwise. I don’t expect them to rematch; I simply respect their courage in doing so. I don’t feel entitled to a rematch; I click ‘rematch’ to see if they truly think they won. I find it odd that they would let the opportunity pass to seal the deal, which takes just one more game in my book. And that, from a psychological standpoint, proves to me that they would have lost.

Chess is not won by being lucky, it is won through skill. The only luck involved in chess is the opponent you get paired with.

I... disagree. Chess is a combination of luck and skill. Luck is required to gain an advantage, skill is required to convert it.

I don't like rematches, myself. And I suspect many others are of similar mind. Many people like to play different opponents, and some click the "new game" button before a rematch is offered. What am I supposed to do then?

so what luck do you see in chess @TheGreatAttorney ?

When I was playing online at 10m/side, once I won against someone I would never play a rematch. Since I won every game I played my rating just kept going up, and the ratings of the players I played kept going up. Eventually I was being pestered by a whole pile of weak players to play bullet, so I quit playing rated games, and went to playing slow unrated anonymous games to create artistic wins. I only ever accepted a rematch once. A really bad player got mad at me because I promoted 5 queens against him instead of mating him and he refused to resign. He asked for a rematch, and suddenly started playing really good trappy moves as white at the level of a super GM. I was traveling Australia at the time on vacation and had to work really hard to stay in the game. The game was never finished because I ended up in the outback without an internet connection. To this day I wonder who I was really playing, I am pretty sure it was not an engine because they were not that strong back then.

Go back to concentrating your light, Mr Lens, then perhaps you shall see the light of the day.

LOL! But seriously, I try to make a rematch after every game.

I've had many games in which I've been losing, and some background noise breaks my opponent's concentration, causing him to make minor, but fatal, slipups. I consider things that are out of your control, but fall in your favor, as luck.
