I recommend getting the book Chess Fundamentals by Jose Capablanca, it's a great book for beginners.

Read all the articles (there are 120+). Select a time before 2015 to do so.
I'm sorry for reviving this thread but I wanted to ask if my play has improved, this was from a daily game after a lot of practice on chesstempo (which I have a much higher solve rate on now and has definitely helped) and after reading/doing a chess book (Bobby Fischer teaches chess)
Thank you!

Amazingly better. Most of your moves have purpose. I'm sure the computer would complain about some forced mates or mating threats that end up material, but the biggest thing to me would be hanging pieces. You have a day per move there's no excuse for missing any hanging pieces or hanging your own. For example, Move 16 you can take the knight for free. Move 27 you leave your bishop hanging for just a non-threatening pawn. I have less of a problem than the computer would for not pressing forced mates in the end game. You had a strong advantage and held it safely. After the rook trade though you do have the only piece left, it should probably get some more use to cut off their king.
Yep, from what I remember of your previous games, this one is much better. As easchner mentioned, you still missed some easy tactics, but not as many as before, and not as severe as before. Good job!
A good way to start: play annotated games of good players, learn basic endgames to learn the value of the pieces, practice and play slow games and take your time to analyse them deeply --> thats the way how you can improve your play
Was just thinking, how did you play a 50 move daily game in the last week since you started this thread?
Average Time Per Move: 5 minutes
Do yourself a favor and take your time! As I said in my first post you'll learn more by analyzing than playing. In a daily there's no reason not to spend at least 20 minutes thinking through each move. Set up another board and play through the next 3-5 moves in a variety of ways and see what shakes out.

I'm too a player of 13 years Give me the five!
So i think i can help you because i know what is you pasing I passed that too but i get out of that level really quickly and here is the thing I DO IT ALONE. Now I have 1300 points but how?!
Well, I can say, I never read a chess book D: Not for tactic, not for openings, not for strategy, not for endgames NOTHING!!!
The thing i do is learn the basic rules of chess, with videos of you tube, random videos, and reading articles of chess.com and that.
The thing you should learn: (If you want more information contact me )
In that game i can say i was impressed, what a Mistakes.
1.Put more time in the tactics, maybe download aplications to make tactics.
2.Learn the basic checkmate's, like Mate of "coz" and the anothers, the mate of the knight or bishop with the queen.
3.Basic rules: You don't lose time moving the peaces, what this mean?..........
I will write you later contact me See you
Don't feel bad most players your age suck at chess, it's a rare 13 year old that is any good, just keep playing and in a few years you'll see some real improvement. By the time you graduate high school you could be a strong player if you have any talent for the game.
As a retired teacher, I've played at least a thousand students over the years, only met a few 8th graders that played a competent game, but I ran into a lot of 12th graders that played very well.
Not everyone can be a chess prodigy, the most important thing is to enjoy the game.
