I'm done with Chess. Good Bye

This is a bizarre post.  If you want advice about how to improve then why don't you ask for it?  If you want to leave then why don't you go?  Instead you post the online equivalent of a childish tantrum.  And then you talk about chess causing you anxiety and making you angry when you lose.

Chess is a game.  Winning or losing desn't mean anything.  It doesn't teach you anything about yourself or other people, other than your own or your opponent's ability to play.  The only thing you can learn from the game, is how to play the game better.  So why worry about it?

I quit playing pool after every loss I have, forever(until the next time I play).

Chess causes me anxiety. That's the truth. I feel anxiety while I am playing and anger after I lose.

Well, that's terrible.

Hopefully there is no afterlife and only an unconscious void—then the anxiety, anger, and other horrible human emotions will end.  You can't even watch tv without the writers triggering these emotions in you, nor read a book, nor have sex freely, as afterwords anxiety of disease and death hits like a dark specter of mortality upon the head...

What to do?  I can't get vegetable-like enough.  This computer is triggering thoughts I wish not upon my mind.  I smash.

My advice? Get out now... while you still can!!! Quit for as long as you possibly can. It's a stupid game anyway.

I'm clean for about two weeks (no chess), and it wasn't hard. The fact that I'm here is of course a bad thing.

Hahaha!

Long long ago, in a land not so far away lived a taxiturn population who filled their day moving small electronic pieces of data and arguing about the result.  Than one day out of the mist came a shrouded figure who said...

@ polydiatonic if you are so unhappy with Eo's behaviour why bother reading his threads and even responding to it ?

Eo - Clearly there are issues beyond the mere pushing of wood. The internet is filled with "Goodbye-Hello" posts from people who quit a community so slowly you'd think they never left.

Are you going for a record?

If you don't need the patch, that is one cool avatar. If you do, I apologize.

Vlm2010, I personally could care less whether you continue to play chess or not, chess is game of character you handle a win with humility and you handle a loss with the understanding that you have done your best even though you may have blundered along the way, its sort of like life. You win some you lose some but we all go forward regardless of the outcome of our previous day.

Just so you know, only 10 pecent of the population of the world that play golf can shoot par on regular basis, and of that less than one percent are good enough to play on the PGA Tour. The average chess player has a rating of under 1200, think about that! there are more chess players in the world than golfers. what percentage of them do you think are masters at the game, I would be willing to bet less than .005 percent.

Yes golf is hard, but being proficiant at chess to the master level is even harder.

Just keep pluging along, have fun and try to learn something.

lol. okay. No need to be a sore loser. YOU WILL NOT GET ANY BETTER AT CHESS WITHOUT IMPROVING TACTICS! Chess IS 99% tactics 1% opening moves. It doesn't matter how many openings you know it's all about improving your tactics!!

Thanks for the advice John, but where did I say I was quitting? Eo___ said he's quitting and I was telling him basically the same thing you are telling me.

I have been in his shoes before though. Chess is a rough game for people who expect results without the necessary objectivity, mental toughness and hard work.
