Whose WHAT is buried in Grant's tomb?
Question for Musacha: why is there something rather than nothing?
How do you know there is something rather than nothing?
Macer; nothing would leave a trace that something WAS there!
I dunno... that doesn't spund like a great explanation. But at least it's better than nothing.
MU (as in music, or cows) Sasha as in the actress Isles, of "Rizzoli & Isles. When your drunk, its music with a cha cha tacked on. OH, I see my keyboard isn't working right. Ok, in the shop it goessss.

Something has the experience of seeming to exist -- namely, the barely sapient agglomeration of stardust that seems to be typing these very words and that goes by the username sapientdust.
Even if the experience is deceptive or the perception erroneous, some kind of system exists in order to support the experience, regardless of the actual nature of the experience.
Descartes got many things wrong, but on this, he was correct.
easy! just put the peaces together.
which is a lot less intellectual than wondering if the human race as a collective can reach the level of intelligence needed to end global conflict.
maybe just an old pray to the god of peace might work ? worth a try ?

What if the concept of existence in itself doesn't really "exist" - it's simply an illusion, not real in a way that the human mind is not capable of understanding? That is to say, the distinction between so called existence and so called non-existence is merely artificial?
I know I'm not making myself clear here, and I myself am not 100% sure what I want to say here. I guess the bottom line of my argument is that it's possible that there are things out minds just aren't capable of understanding, that our understanding of logic, while it may seem to hold universal truth (by definition of the concept of logic itself), cannot explain because it is actually limited or erroneous?
If "it's simply an illusion", then something exists (illusions, for example), but I think I get what you're saying. I kind of agree if you meant that the question may be a category mistake of some kind (or some other similar error). Just as Chomsky's famous nonsensical sentence "colorless green ideas sleep furiously" doesn't have any meaning, the question about existence may have no answer because it misuses concepts or language in some way. Or it may be a meaningful question, but there is no reason why, as is apparently the case for some quantum events.
Anyway, I'm off to read Nothingness.
Will flight 370 be found? If so when and where?
