As far as I know (without looking at the rules) games under three moves do not count for or against ratings.
I'm not a rating nut

Agreed :)
I think the exception is if you withdraw from a tournament. I lost almost 100 rating points for doing this a little while back.... Which doesn't really make sense because I could have just timed out and not lost any rating points.

Well, a few days ago I was in another tournament, and it was one of those 14 day time things. My opponant was a nice guy, but he played so slowly and then went on vacation. He was rated about 500 points above me.
So I wanted to be in this new tourney coming up with folks near my rating, so I resigned. The second game had not even started, and at the rate we were going it would be summertime.
But I lost rating points on both games...

If I were, I would be troubled by my rating which is below 1000. However I am in a tournament. And four players have lost their games to me by not playing on time.
As far as I can tell, my rating has not moved up an inch.
How does this work?
