The thing about paid Internet subscriptions is that they are usually priced for first-world consumers, unlike physical objects that you obtain locally.  It is difficult for them to price it regionally because it'll just push many people to using proxies.  BUT... The Internet also brings great things to the third world by offering many free services and information: check out https://lichess.org/training/83651 So, it is also a great equalizer.

You don’t have to be rich to learn a lot of chess if you have Internet access! I grew up in the materially poorest family in a neighborhood in the Armpit of my County, I’ve learned how to get the biggest-bang-for-the-buck for things I desire, and that habit has stuck with me through life and resulted in a well-off retirement.

  1. Free tactics study

For tactics, you need to not only work tactics problems, you need to study as you work them. You can find them here and at chesstempo.com.

At your own pace over weeks or months, memorize so you can name and demonstrate EVERY one of the several dozen tactical motifs at these interactive sites:

https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-tactics--definitions-and-examples

https://chesstempo.com/tactical-motifs.html

After you solve each problem - and take time to do each one even if it averages 5 minutes and go back and find the solutions for those you missed - decide for yourself WHICH tactics were involved. Ask yourself WHY it took you so long to see that tactics. Check the TAGS (tactics) other solvers have labeled the problem and see if you see those tactics. Doing this consistently will improve your Pattern Recognition by a lot. Two years ago, I didn’t know what a Dovetail Mate is. But I know it now and, studying a materially losing position I had, I saw where I could tempt my opponent to grab my Rook which would put me in a position to win with a Dovetail Mate. He grabbed the Rook and I won! That game is here: https://www.chess.com/daily/game/185241810

The Dovetail Mate and its cousin the Swallow’s Tail Mate are described in the chesstempo link above.

  1. Free Videos

There are lots of great chess videos. IM John Bartholomew’s 5-part series on Chess Fundamentals and 9-part series on Chess Cognition are excellent, as are a lot of other videos. Seach “chess tactics” and you’ll see lots of stuff.

III. Free Books

There are a lot of old-but-good, legally free ebooks to be found on the Internet and sites that list free chess books. Many of them are in descriptive notation, but it is easy to learn.

For example, http://bishopsbounty.blogspot.com/2009/01/free-online-chess-books.html

One of the sites listed is http://www.chesszone.org/lib/books-by-stages.html

and a great book listed there, The Art of the Middlegame by Keres and Kotov is here:

http://www.chesszone.org/lib/books/art-of-the-middle-game/art-of-the-middle-game.zip

The 2nd chapter of that book, Strategy and Tactics of Attacks on the King, in my experience are the BEST 50 pages of chess instruction ever written! Want to know if you should castle on the opposite side from your opponent? You’ll learn how to determine it and carry out the required Pawn Storm!

Other sites include:

Want to read Neal McDonald’s “Mastering Chess Tactics”? It’s here along with lots of other free books: https://archive.org/search.php?query=chess%20tactics

There are lots of links on Bill Walls chess page: http://billwall.phpwebhosting.com/

1894-1921 World Champion Emanuel Lasker wrote two great books. His Common Sense in Chess and his Manual of Chess are worth doing a google search to find.  They may be only available in descriptive notation, but it is not hard to learn.  Here are those two in descriptive notation:

http://www.simardartizanfarm.ca/pdf/-_Lasker_s_Manual_of_Chess.pdf

https://ia801408.us.archive.org/14/items/commonsenseinche00laskrich/commonsenseinche00laskrich.pdf

  • Books to Buy

THE best book I’ve ever read on tactics is Martin Weteschnik, Chess Tactics from Scratch, not only examples, but principles behind how to create pins, discovered attacks, etc. Plenty of diagrams so you can follow in book alone.

I’ve won a lot of games focusing on the four principles in Fred Wilson, Simple Attacking Plans – four straightforward principles demonstrated with 36 annotated games.

There are other sites , you can have almost unlimited tactics.

There are many lessons and lectures in youtube to keep you busy for the next decade.

And I can send you as many books as you want in pdf form to keep you busy for the next 5 decades .

That would be great!

Chessmaster 4000 Turbo. It's an abondonware, meaning totally legal to download (vetusware.com). But first you need to buy a desktop computer set and an operating system. You can borrow an old OS from a friend overseas, etc. I can run CM4000 on WXP via a mouse-click technique. SCID database is a good companion for CM4000 especially if you want to convert some files to PGN files. Follow the Procedure in playing CM4000 and you'll enjoy it, kid.

P.S. You will also need a voltage regulator for your desktop computer.

P.P.S. If it isn't enough: Skip meals in school and save your money. Just kidding. You're rich (but not enough), you can afford premium membership. I think you have the option to subscribe for a monthly premium membership.

Borrow books from library, YouTube resources/strong players. I have accumulated a lot of knowledge with no money spent

Avatar of Daniel1115

Also, imo chess.com resources are not very good. You will get better stuff from chess books (which u can find online via pdf) and YouTube (depending on where u look). It's only good for those who are lazy and don't want to put in the work, from what I understand from free lessons it's all bite sized and digested for you, tactics can be done anywhere etc.

I don't know if it's legal for grade six people to have jobs anymore? (I dunno what age grade six is in America)

But it is ridiculous. When I was 8 years old I was already in the army, a shareholder for 16 businesses and a professional full time accountant. I was tri-lingual and was just finishing my PHD in astrophysics. I was also juitizu world champion.

These kids are just ridiculous nowadays.
