I have been playing chess for 20+ years without knowing any piece of chess theory, I could be 1400+ on Monday and 800+ on Thursday but I dont bother
im quitting chess
Before this thread gets locked--#12--I won a game because my opponent was manipulating her rating (her rating was in the 930s and she resigned/abandoned against a player rated 100) by losing 10 games straight. Her account was closed while her clock was still running. But before the thread gets locked, Martin Stahl will leave a link to a cheater's forum where you can talk about it. Otherwise it's a violation of the terms of service to do so in an open forum. I saw another account closed months after I won a game with her.
im tired of playing vs ppl that actually cheat to the point i got from 850 to 780 elo so i will be quitting
Boohoo
Paul Morphy was a talented tactician, but Bobby Fischer was a genius of endgame play. His tactical ability far surpasses that of Paul Morphy's. Garry Kasparov who mastered the openings is similar to Fischer. I need to do more research. Do not compare the giants of the past to the current greats. The difference in play is insurmountable. Paul Morphy is a mere 2500, Bobby Fischer at his best is above 2800. I planned to post this in my thread.

There seems to be a pandemic of chess angst that is causing so many emotionally distraught people to bail out. Is there a cure?
It's quite easy to spot cheaters. My rating is 2800, I lost to someone rated 1300 because they were using an engine. I use my intuition to determine the truth of fair play. Yes, if I do say so myself, this website has a lot of cheaters. The moderators and admins must implement a real time anti-cheat detection system. I do not like it when I lose to beginners.
I lost to a 400 who didn't cheat I just was having a REALY REALY REALY bad day (I hung my queen in an endgame )

If your 2800 your a Smurf and should be banned either that or your a troll your rating says ur 1200

It can but a 2800 doesn't just go to 1200 unless they have something like a stroke(which is serious ) but you don't just drop 1200 points for no reason

look I've tilted hundreds before, you can always come back up, no excuse to close because of that.
Maybe you're just jealous that they're better, but everyone is, so just keep trying.
