Why am I answering a post from 3 years ago? I don’t know, but here I go. One of the many misconceptions about chess is that you have to be some sort of genius to be good at chess. This is a lie! Many of us (especially those who play in OTB tournaments or clubs) know plenty of idiots who are good at chess. Does intelligence help with chess? Probably. But it is really about focusing on getting better at the game itself.
its ok, when I stopped playing chess bc my best friend died and when my mom got cancer and is now sick. It took me a long time to go back and get back in the groove with it and I'm still trying to get better again. It just will take time, that's all.
