I'm up for a Chess Tournament at our High School, any help/advice?

So recently we had a tryouts session at our school and I managed to win.

By January will be the school tournament, and I'm trying to prepare for it by analyzing a lot of my games and learning from my mistakes.

I'm not very confident in my chess skills because I lost the last year I joined in our school chess tournament.

I am asking for advice on what I should be focusing on in practice and what I should be training to improve my chances in the tournament as well as my overall play.

"I managed to win" ++ Congrats

"analyzing a lot of my games and learning from my mistakes" ++ Excellent

"what I should training"
++ Play practice games of the same time control as the tournament against a strong engine. The goal is not to win or draw - you will not - but to mercilessly expose your weaknesses and cure these.

Is it classical? If so I recommend getting to grips with the time format and fully analysing positions the way you don’t have time to do in rapid

Thanks so much! I think this will help me a lot, because then I become more aware of a lot of what I need to improve on.

++ Prepare the same way.

1. Learn 4 to 5 different openings and defences. Analyze and try to play offbeat variations to not go straight in opponents preperation.
2. Analyze grandmaster games and try to adopt style of a grandmaster that suits you the most.
3. Focus on improving your game, not tournament outcome. Have self- confidence and beleive that you will win.
4. Do puzzles, play RAPID games and learn from your mistakes.
5. Purchuse chess books, hire a coach or watch chess expert online.
6. Pay special attention on most important thing, the endgame.
7. Do not put pressure on yourself.
Good luck on tournament

I just wanted to update! Thanks for the help guys! My only concern now is that during practice with my chess partner, I realized I more mistakes than if it was online. I have trouble seeing the whole chess mat, and we're going to be using those during the meets. Furthermore, my though process seems to be different in OTB than if it were to be online, like I don't evaluate positions as clearly and stuff. I'm asking for some help with this problem please.
