I only agree with the /3
Chess.com is amazing
Staff continuing to actively work on the problem and have made a number or temporary changes to relieve done load, atre working on other optimizations, and have increased capacity and working towards more. I agree, an official update would be great, though I believe staff's bigger concern is working on the issues.
There is a cap in place for online games, during peak hours for sure, outside of that, I don't know if it stays in place all the time.
Pausing new accounts probably isn't ideal and I imagine they looked at the possiblity and decided that was not a good way to move forward.
Regarding existing premium memberships, they likely don't have a method to do a pause or blanket refund/credit (which would require devs to plan, test, and implement and pretty much all work is going to solving the root issues). Also, in my opinion, until it's known how long the issues are going to last, it's premature to make a decision on what to do. Once the issues are resolved, I imagine staff will make some decision on that front.
For games lost due to database load issues, open a ticket with support, with links to the game(s) and support should be able to provide rating refunds.

The last one of my games that crashed the chess dot com aborted it (the game was in an even position). I consider that fair. I think if someone is +3, or +4 it should count as a win for the side that is winning, otherwise the game should be counted as aborted (as they do know).
1. You don't know how hard or how easy the problem is to solve. You are not a programmer working for chess.com. All the public pressure would do is put pressure on developers. I am always against know-nothing idiots putting pressure on people in the field who actually know what they are doing and how hard the problem is to solve.
2. They have already started doing that.
3. Paid membership has nothing to do with being able to play games. Playing games is free, whether you have premium account or not. Premium account allows you to solve more puzzles, lessons, play against bots, analyse more games etc.
4. Under no definition of the word fraud is this site committing it. They are not selling you the service of playing online games. That's free (and that's free regardless of whether you have a premium account or not, see point 3).
5. See points 3 and 4. Premium accounts don't give you the ability to play online games. They are not selling the service of playing games online against other people. That's free.
6. They have already started doing it.
7.They don't have the monopoly on online chess.
I am by no means associated with people who own this website, but the comment was so bad I had to respond to it. Every point in the comment is wrong.
Until they get things fixed, the paying members should get priority over the freeloaders who pay nothing to play. That's a simple solution that even a 900 rated player like me can understand.

No one pays to play. Playing games online is free on this website. Paying members are paying for puzzles, lessons, the possibility to play against bots etc. they aren't paying to play online games.

Hey freeloader (aka Dude). The servers don't pay for themselves. The paying customers do. Pull your weight and buy a membership!
