I'm glad you cleared that up, because my mind would of said; 10 million members. 3 million cheat.

Really? You sell poison for money.

I serve alcoholic beverages. I'm like an angel for the needy

Can you make a classic martini? Do I need to specify that means gin?

Yes, and I always ask if they want gin or vodka because people really don't know what they're ordering half the timeLaughing

but, the bottom line (money) is not and should not be everything. that's the point people seem to be missing here.

Principles are (and should always be) more important than money.

Yaroslavl wrote:

"assuming the defendant has deep enough pockets to make it worthwhile"

again, it's not about money, it's about principles. if someone is going to be too afraid to defend their principles, then why have principles at all?

in the Constitution, it says "Justice for ALL" not "justice for those who have more money."

I wish heaven on Earth was written in the Constitution so that we had it.

Besides, principles are not infinitely more important than money.

Let's say that your principles are against doing X, which many people currently do (prostitution/alcohol/drugs/whatever). Now, the Devil comes and offers you two deals, each can be taken independantly of the other:

1-do X, and receive one billion dollars.

2-pay one billion dollars, and eradicate X from the surface of the Earth forever.

If you rigidly apply your principle, you will never take deal 1 but the pragmatic course to vindicate your principle is obviously to take deals 1 and 2. (unless you are already a billionnaire, of course)

I think unless chess.com comes up with an active anti-cheating monitoring mechanism like the one Fide Chess Arena has, its futile to play here. Every 3rd player I encounter is actively cheating. Yes they get caught but is highly demoralizing to those of us who play a honest game. Get your fricking act together chess.com or lose users.

How do you know every 3rd player is cheating?

Statistics - I have reported to chess.com whenever I thought my opponent cheated. And one third of the time, I was right ;)

Please note that I had said "Every 3rd player I encounter is actively cheating" and NOT "Every 3rd player on Chess.com actively cheating"

Line 1 you say you reported each time you thought someone was cheating, and you were correct 1/3 of the time.

Then in line 2, you clarified you said 'Every 3rd person I encouter is actively cheating'.

Does that mean you reported every person you encountered? Otherwise, it would be much less than 1/3 of the people you encountered. It would only be 1/3 of the people you reported.

Don't you know 4/3 people don't understand fractions?

A lawyer and business acumem. Ladies? He's a catch!

A shame you're too much of a coward to post on your real account.

And I suppose that is the 'real' you. And this is your 'real' account. With your real name?

Oh how brave of you, Sir. Your moral courage and honesty has truly put me to shame.

You don't need him for that. You have shown you can do it on your own.

Is it just me or did this topic on cheating go all over the place? LOL

Cheating, principles, happy hour. Great topics! Laughing

MRBTP

I'm on other sites, and they have things that they do to cheaters and other people who break the rules.

The 3 chance rule.

The first time "Alex" breaks a rule they send him/her a warning and he/she has to remove it if possible within 24-48hours.

The second time "Alex" breaks the same rule they send him/her a ban warning and if he/she does not remove it within 24-48hours "Alex" is temperary banned from the site from one day all the way to one week depending on what he/she did.

The third time "Alex" breaks the same rule, they send him/her an email saying he's/she's banned if he/she does not remove whatever from his/her account within 12-24hours. If that fails, the account and email is banned and closed permantly.
